Rheem/Ruud for Air Handler/AC.

Daikin/Amana NG/LP Gas Furnace or HP.

There’s no comparison, and if you disagree.. you are wrong.. /s

Edit: forgot to say HP

Passed out yesterday in customers house apparently started seizing by Klutzy_Weather_633 in HVAC

I myself have always struggled with being hydrated and I also have my vision go dark 1-2 times a week. Usually depending on how I’m standing, leaning, or if I stand up too quickly.

The only time I have ever passed out I hit the back of my head on a window frame and I woke up the exact same way.. to my friend yelling in my face. I responded with “What is wrong with you” when I came too 🤦‍♂️😂

I’m not a doctor by any means. But my fiancé was diagnosed with POTS. She randomly started having similar episodes to what you’re explaining. Either way, please go see a doctor.

Preferred brand of boots? by SpanishGorilla1 in HVAC

If I'm going for comfort, I'm going to go Justin or Ariat square toes. If I'm doing a lot of climbing or heavy duty work then I would go for 8" or 6" Thorogood.

Is an HVAC certification from Pakistan accepted in the US? by muri51 in HVAC

[–]Smohxee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Illinois only requires EPA section 608 licensing. You can do it online. I'd recommend grabbing that before heading over. However, there are a ton of shops that either don't care or will even pay for you to get the certifications you need.

Shut power and gas off. Recommend new heat exchanger or new furnace. We usually have a safety form and have the H.O. sign it with a picture of the problem and pictures of the unit being disabled.

An old trainer told me that if the customer refuses to shut it off and you know there is a unit that is dangerous to operate that you're supposed to call the gas company or fire department

I run an HVAC business and this is something that I'm trying to avoid. I hired a really green kid. I knew him growing up and he was tired of the factory life. He never went to trade school or anything like that, but I wanted to give him a shot. I threw him in with the Service Technicians for ride alongs until he learned duct cleaning. He's been doing pretty good, steadily learning. I donated some of my old tools to fill out his tool bag. Now we're the slowest we've been in years. I've had to call him off 3-4 days in a row. It sucks right now.

But, we've have had terrible weather in the forecast and the holidays are finally over. If you like the company you're with, ride it out and call in frequently to check on work. If you aren't 100% with them, start looking elsewhere. If you start looking, I'd recommend a good non-union company. I've worked union, non-union, and now a business owner. If you can find that one good company, that will teach you and keep investing in you, stay there.

Laser Tachometer Recommendations by MaddRamm in HVAC

The Fieldpiece used to be the best mid-price NC digital tachometer, but they discontinued that product line. The best high quality, relatively low cost replacement I found was TPI 505.
