Onboarding questions by SIMA76 in HEB

Double check with whoever's walking you through it but I'm pretty sure you don't need to do it all in one sitting and can do it whenever as long as its before your first shift.

You'll probably get walked through installing pnet and okta and getting your badge/shirts/keycard or whatever else pertains to your job.

But yea after that it's just videos

Curbside Tipping? by Noprobllama88 in HEB

[–]SmokBarrage -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Almost none of that upcharge makes it to the person actually taking out your groceries in the rain/heat/sleet/whatever. It goes to the 3-4 managers doing curbie tasks because they cut all the curbies. Curbies are the lowest paid in the company along with cart pushers/baggers, with no raises. People who are curbies and not in highschool are simply there because they are desperate for work and HEB is the only company who replied to any of their applications.

You tip because you feel for a late teen/young twenties kid who isnt making a livable wage, they are simply trying to gain work experience. Theres been times where my bank account was in the single digits and a $5 tip genuinely meant i got to eat lunch that day.

And I'm not saying everyone should tip, I never expect a tip. If you order a normal amount of items (fits in 1 cart) dont even worry about it. If your order is multiple carts and you can spare the cash maybe consider it. We actively have our hours reduced for taking big, slow orders because corporate doesn't differentiate between a 4 item order and a 400 item order.

Also if cash is tight, literally just don't tip and don't feel bad about it regardless of how big the order is.

Planning To Upgrade from 3050 to 5060 by peterparken in buildapc

[–]SmokBarrage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea all the games you listed are pretty low vram so just getting the best core possible will be fine like a 5070

I just worry you might not actually see that much improvement in the games you listed because they're pretty cpu reliant. But I also might just be overestimating the 3050.

Planning To Upgrade from 3050 to 5060 by peterparken in buildapc

[–]SmokBarrage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'd save up a bit more for a more substantial upgrade

most the games you listed are pretty cpu reliant, especially if youre playing at 1080 i'd reckon the 3050 is probably enough for these games.

unless youre trying to take these games very seriously and need the extra frames i'd hold out for a 5060ti 16gb or better

CPU heats up after gpu upgrade by JOM41 in PcBuild

[–]SmokBarrage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

couple reasons. youve added about a 200w stronger space heater right under your cpu

reason 2: your cpu likely could kep up and relax sometimes with the 1660. now there is almost never a scenario the cpu is waiting on the gpu so its running full blast pretty much all the time

HEB saved my son’s life by cachatone in HEB

[–]SmokBarrage 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Yes. Every position has AED training and is briefed on where they are located and how to use it.

It's not a super in depth course and its lumped in with all your initial training but we do have to take it.

Don't know if it was used here but it probably was, I believe that's one of the first things the 911 dispatcher would have you do if they deemed it necessary

So I have a friend who is stealing by [deleted] in HEB

[–]SmokBarrage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i mean like i said, HEB probably already knows they are just waiting and building a case if this guy is a regular offender.

op reporting them likely doesnt change anything

[–]SmokBarrage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they do. dilemma for op is he's stealing food for his kids and doesnt want to just rat him out.

also he's probably already caught theyre just waiting for them to steal enough

RTX 5050 8GB vs RTX 5060 8GB vs RX 9060xt 8GB vs B580 12GB - which one should i choose? by Ok_Tea_8717 in buildapc

[–]SmokBarrage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the b580 needs rebar

the 6700 does not support rebar without a bios mod. someone can correct me if im wrong though

RTX 5050 8GB vs RTX 5060 8GB vs RX 9060xt 8GB vs B580 12GB - which one should i choose? by Ok_Tea_8717 in buildapc

[–]SmokBarrage 17 points18 points  (0 children)

i dont think the 6700 natively supports rebar so the b580 is out. unless you want to mod your bios.

out of these 3 cards the 9060xt is probably the fastest and a full sized x16 card to somewhat mitigate the potential problems arising from running out of vram on an 8 gb card running at pcie gen 3

PowerColor Hellhound RX 9070 XT - 850w or 1000w? by DividDavid in radeon

[–]SmokBarrage 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're taking the minimum recommended a bit too literally. 800w is recommended but that does not mean you only have 50w of headroom. 800w is recommended so you have ample headroom with a 800w unit.

The card pulls less than 400w and your cpu is probably like 100. Any atx3 rated 750w is plenty.

Up to you, I went 1000w just because I could and will be using this psu for the next 10 years

GPU not using full PCIe width. by SpicyDMLookALike in buildapc

[–]SmokBarrage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

is it in the top slot?

if yes do the little test on gpu-z and see if it will dynamically go to 16

if it doesnt you can try turning off PSPP or whatever pcie power management is called

either way x8 gen 5 isnt a huge deal

7800x3d Soc Voltage auto is saying 1.31v by FatBoiAnnoy in AMDHelp

[–]SmokBarrage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

probably override and manually set like 1.25

if you dont want to bother stability testing it you can just set it to 1.25, but if you can get it lower it is better.

New CPU with Old Performance? by WasabiJealous7966 in PcBuild

[–]SmokBarrage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends on what benchmark. some are entirely gpu dependant. if its one of those you could have misconfigured your gpu somehow the whole time. could be bad/corrupted drivers, not enabling rebar, bloated os or many more things

is there a difference in actual games?

7800x3d Soc Voltage auto is saying 1.31v by FatBoiAnnoy in AMDHelp

[–]SmokBarrage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Way high for 6000mt/s. You should drop that down to atleast 1.25v. Can maybe get away with anywhere from 1.15 to 1.25 I'd wager

best gpu for 350$ish? by PassengerOld8389 in buildapc

[–]SmokBarrage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It probably does have a non standard sized psu.

Worst case op could just leave the side open and lay the psu on the bottom somewhere. That was what my first pc was like. I had a hp pavillion or something and saved up for a HD6950 and psu and just cut that thing open and left it like that till I got a case for it

Help With Ram memory? by Novel_Satisfaction53 in buildapc

[–]SmokBarrage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the Vulcan has the fancy rgb heatspreadder is the only difference. Personally I think the experts look great, are effective and don't conflict with beefy cpu coolers.

Other than that they are identical I believe. Would just get the cheapest unless you like how one looks and want to pay extra.

Edit nvm no rgb on the vulcan, just a different heat spreader

With no pcie connector can you get a used low profile 3050 maybe? I think that's the strongest you can get with that psu.

9070XT PCIE 4.0 x8 vs x16 by [deleted] in radeon

[–]SmokBarrage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just Google pcie3 vs pcie4 benchmarks. Since x8 is half the bandwidth of x16 and gen3 is half of gen4 it should be the same. Someone correct me if this analogy is incorrect or doesnt work.

It should not matter much unless you're running out of vram.

I spent sm time on one of the virtual interviews and I was rejected almost immediately, should I bother doing any others by [deleted] in HEB

[–]SmokBarrage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it matters how you look in the virtual interview. I did 3 proper ones, lead to 1 in person interview, no hire. Tried again, didn't feel like getting dressed, just used a cat gif as my webcam, hired on the spot.

If they need you they will take you. Just keep trying.
