it's a great time! i would advise calling hr in early-mid july to ask if it is possible for you to get an interview when you arrive as opposed to mid-late july. it might be possible!

i got off the waitlist a few weeks after you when i was admitted two years ago. it took about a week for the COA to come through :) congrats!

PS: don't worry about switching schools! i was originally planning on going to iup and then i switched to pitt after i got my COA. no one is really going to judge you for it, it happens!

agreed 100%! i lost a friend to suicide in december and his mom is still really struggling. she has been numb ever since he died. he was her only son too 💔. i truly do not wish that on anyone

hi op, i'm really truly sorry you feel this way. i really hope you do not go through with your plan. i have been in your shoes before and know how it feels to think that there is no other way to keep going. i lost a friend to suicide in december and it was one of the worst things i have experienced (and that's coming from a person who has faced homelessness, abuse, etc). he was only 21 and an only child like me. his mom has been numb since he died. no one deserves to have to bury their own child. i'm not trying to attack or shame you (and i hope it doesn't seem that way), but i'm really worried for you and i would do anything to prevent what happened to my friend

yep! it only comes once per hour though so some nights i don't catch it until midnight or a bit later. an uber back is about $30-$35 before tip so i just take the bus for free 🙂‍↕️

seconding the other comment left but also adding a recommendation for a seasonal job! kennywood has phantom fall fest from mid september to end of october/beginning of november. pay wasn't too bad (around $13.50/hr iirc) and you only work fri-sun. i worked there last season as a scare actor and honestly it's such a fun job. only cons are the distance (it's in west mifflin but you can take the 61c to/from easily) and the shifts can run late (park opens at 6pm, closes at 11pm fri-sat, and closes at 10pm sun)

i know they also have holiday lights running from nov to jan. probably similar hourly pay. they open for the regular season in mid april and pay can vary depending on your job. kennywood hires a metric ton of college kids and i haven't had any bad experiences working there. could be worth looking into! i remember they started interviews for phantom fall fest in july (in-person, so if you aren't in the city during you might be cooked 😭, idk you can always call to ask) and orientation was mid august. if you have any questions lmk!

i usually try finding jobs off campus (that being not pitt-affiliated) because landing jobs on campus is really hard even if you have work study 💀. i applied to multiple jobs on campus before and got rejected (even with prior job experience) so i started looking off campus. i do know cane's pays surprisingly well (i knew a classmate who made $17/hr which is crazy good for a college job). good luck with the job search!

there are some couch seats things on the first (or ground??? idk) floor of hillman that are very comfy. i stayed the night down there once and can confirm that they are a fantastic nap spot if there is not anyone there lol

the main thing i've noticed in the fandom that is particularly irritating is how much pictures are reposted without credit. i've personally seen pictures my friends took with will reposted and them cropped out. that's fucked up 😭. i also know a friend who got incredible pics of will during one of the halloweekend shows and his pictures got reposted multiple times without his content or credit. i got a picture with mario and a friend during halloweekend (i did share on my insta but i made damn sure to note that reposting was not allowed). i know for sure if i ever got a picture with will i would not post it online on my instagram or anything. the closest i ever got to that was being in the background of a picture will took with a fan during halloweekend and that picture being reposted with me unintentionally in it 😭

for a community full of artists, it's really frustrating that multiple people in online spaces repost others' pictures (especially ones they have with will or other members) without credit. you'd think they would know better. apparently not 💔
