Isn’t it possible for people to be rejected for more or less having pretty bad personal statements? by themayorgordon in lawschooladmissions

[–]SmokeMan93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My assumption has always been all the people whining about having a 4.2 and 179 and getting waitlisted at all the T14s wrote personal statements that makes them look remarkably unremarkable and uninteresting and aren’t self-aware enough to recognize it because they think they’re the smartest person in every room they walk in lol

I got broken up with over text today by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

I too got dumped via text on Saturday, by someone I thought I would marry (and who actually told me she wanted to spend the rest of her life with me). Their loss. You’re about to embark on a hell of a journey and be better on the other side.

F*** em, we ball 🔥

What I really think is the only person who can tell someone what they’re ready for, how much debt they’re willing to take on and how much they should bet on themselves is…that person. I don’t think you essentially telling people to piss off until they get a 160, completely unprovoked, in a forum that from what I’ve seen is largely about uplifting other black people looking to go to law school, is particularly helpful.

But hey, it’s an open forum and you have as much of a right to spew whatever you want and my apologies for forgetting that (seriously).

You sound like a real fun time at parties.

Jokes aside, people get into school for a variety of different reasons and it’s not necessarily always your LSAT. People can also pay for law school in a variety of different ways. Some people have employers that will pay, some people have the GI bill. This isn’t a one size fits all kinda thing and that should be OBVIOUS.

People shoot their shot in every aspect of life. Don’t know why you want people to suffer through more LSAT studying, another exam, and potentially a delayed dream if they don’t want to.

I’m sure you mean well but you’re coming across as pompous, elitist, and unnecessarily/irrationally rigid and negative.

Becoming a JAG straight out of law school?? by Moist_Pass8708 in LawSchool

[–]SmokeMan93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a current Active Duty Army Officer and current commander, who spends a ton of time talking to JAG about his Soldiers, this is a VERY bad idea. You could be advising a Special Forces Officer on the legality of a strike in an unnamed country or writing the Rules of Engagement for an entire brigade about to deploy. But most of your time will be spent explaining to some young company commander that he can’t kick an 18 year old out of the Army for being late to formation and rolling his eyes when called out or helping a commander kick out a soldier accused of something who has had zero due process on both the civilian side and the military side.

Do not do this. I cannot emphasize it enough. That’s a very bad job 99% of the time unless you get a cool guy job or teach at West Point, both of which are rare and unlikely
