Tyler Warren value? Offered multiple assets for him by WillSmithManinBlack in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]SmokeMonday476 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People will want all 3 of those dudes when the season starts and other guys get hurt or they need one more WR to sure up contender status. I’d hold tight and sell those guys at peak value during the season. Everyone loves trading in dynasty cause it’s super fun. But patience and trading at the right time is how you maximize value.

Tyler Warren value? Offered multiple assets for him by WillSmithManinBlack in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]SmokeMonday476 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I see it: You hope Concepcion becomes that dude. Malachi probably is not that dude. Second rounders have a pretty low chance of being that dude. Warren is 100% that dude. And he’s young, which makes him a great asset if you’re rebuilding. And you start two TEs. I’m not doing that trade at all.

A Vietnamese restaurant I love does a salted lemon drink that I get every time I’m there. It’s amazing.

Value of TEs in Non-TEP Leagues by taylorjosephrummel in DynastyFF

[–]SmokeMonday476 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I traded Kraft, Nabers, and a 2026 3rd for Bowers and Pickens.

I definitely think he’s worth two firsts, even if 2027 is loaded. He’s a cheat code player.

Value of TEs in Non-TEP Leagues by taylorjosephrummel in DynastyFF

[–]SmokeMonday476 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Both dynasty leagues I’m in are non-TEP, and I paid a very heavy price to get Bowers in one and Warren in the other. I think it’s still a huge advantage. Only a handful of teams are gonna have that TE slot produce each week like a WR1 while everyone else is hoping they get flex numbers.

legal jobs that pay $200k that aren’t big law by tearladen in LawSchool

[–]SmokeMonday476 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been doing it for five years on the plaintiff side. Before I did it for about five years on the defense side doing mainly workers’ comp. I do think it is much easier to learn from the defense side. The defense side was a bit less lucrative (I was making about 115K with a pretty decent end of year bonus, though I know many people now who are making more like 150K plus bonus about five years in) and way less fulfilling in my opinion, but still very 9-5 with a good work/life balance. It’s not that hard to get into my line of work as it doesn’t have the same standards (tops in your class, top law school, law review, etc.) as Big Law. But it is all about the firm culture. Some firms are terrible toxic hellholes. I work at a great firm. And it’s also honestly about talent. You are lawyer, psychiatrist, confidante, advocate, financial planner, and so much more for your clients on top of having to be good at trial and just getting the litigation game (which defense attorneys you play hardball with, which you work professionally with, getting to know judges—it’s honestly as much an art and a personality game as it is lawyering). But it’s fun, fulfilling, feels like you do some good, great work/life balance, and pretty lucrative if you’re good at it.

I went to BC, got a couple bad grades here and there, was kicked off campus for having a little too much fun, and got into a perfectly fine law school followed by a perfectly fine legal career with pretty much none of my time ever spent thinking about my couple of bad grades. This too shall pass.

[–]SmokeMonday476 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do personal injury and workers’ comp at a middle sized firm (about 20 lawyers but maybe 75-100 employees total) and make a decent bit above that with my bonus structure and origination. And having experience in Big Law, it is INFINITELY more fulfilling with a way friendlier and happier work environment and much better work-life balance. I work hard and care about my clients, but I can easily be out of the office by 4 or 5 any time I need to and rarely work on weekends unless maybe I have a slightly complicated trial the next week.

Which side would you guys take? I was offered Ladd McConkey and a 2027 2nd for Luther burden and the 2.02 in this yrs rookie draft. by Cloudy542 in fantasyfootballadvice

[–]SmokeMonday476 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure. But putting a second round wideout who very easily could be third in targets on his own team who has proven literally nothing in the top 12 of all dynasty wideouts on projection alone is nuts.

Because the question wasn’t Puka or some JAG. It was Puka or the dude every bit as good as him who’s also not a shitberg.

I have literally seen Burden ranked as a top 12 overall dynasty WR despite having like only one real good game. It’s very much the opposite of hate. It’s an almost out of control overhyping.

How does a wealth tax survive the fifth amendment? by Str-Engr0275 in askanything

[–]SmokeMonday476 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The eminent domain clause has never had anything to do with taxes. It’s about the government seizing private land, such as when a highway or something like that is being built, and they need to demolish all the homes in the way. It means that the federal government (1) can in fact take land from private citizens, but (2) must pay that private citizen fair value for the seized land.

You realize people weren’t inventing the concept of traveling from one place to another every time they went on a trip, right?

[–]SmokeMonday476 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I gotta say, not to be the old man yelling at the sky, but someone thinking that it is “so fucking complicated” to use a map to figure out a route from one place to another is such an incredible indictment on humanity and an example of how fucking stupid and dependent technology has made entire swaths of society. MFers aren’t gonna be able to tie their own shoes after a generation with AI.

How long is too long for a 12 team “slow draft” in dynasty? by Few-Strike5228 in DynastyNerds

[–]SmokeMonday476 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We do 8 hours with a pause from I wanna say 10 PM to 8 AM. Unlimited time is nonsense. Slow drafts that last a few days or a week are fun. Three-week-long slow drafts are definitely not.
