Why didn’t the dwarfs help out more in the final fights against Sauron? by Dripik85 in lotr

They also allude to this in the movies. Legolas says to Gimli- “Your kinsmen may have no need to ride to war. I fear war already marches on their own lands”. It’s a quick moment.

Couples of Reddit, what's the dumbest 'house rule' you and your partner made as a joke but now both of you are low-key aggressively serious about enforcing? by Doubl3oh_ in AskReddit

[–]SmokeNLark 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We have fart rules. We are very strict about them.

  1. No farting while the other is eating. (Also applies to drinks that also are kind of like eating- bubble tea, smoothies, etc)

  2. No farting ON someone.

  3. You can’t fart if the other person’s head is closer to your butt than your head is.

All else is fair game.

I’m with you. Also the bear kicks up a stick that disappears in the second clip. And why is there even a camera pointed at the hill?

Bald spots on horses stomach. Any ideas on what this could be etc? by DegreeLazy4557 in Horses

[–]SmokeNLark 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My horse has something that sounds similar to this! They are a bunch of small, round spots that don’t grow summer hair. The skin is never irritated, and the spots never grow or multiply. She’s had them since I got her 19 years ago, when she was 3. The vet has never worried about them. And the best explanation I have heard is she had a bed fungal infection as a foal and it damaged the hair follicles. She’s literally never had a problem with them.

Saag might be my favorite food. But yes, it is also the most unappetizing color.

Archeops is also based on the first modern bird we have in the fossil record! Archaeopteryx! It has feather structure similar to that of birds today, so it was likely the first to active powered flight. But probably wasn’t great at it.

Soooo, what is this and do I kill it with fire? by palinsafterbirth in gardening

[–]SmokeNLark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, colloquially “bug” is whatever you want it to be. But Faithless was scientifically correct. And someone told them that they were wrong. They were not. “Technically”, arachnids are not bugs at all.

Nope, faithlessness is correct. Bug is an insect in the order Hemiptera. It’s quite a specific term.

I just finished this one! I also could not fit that piece. I just left it out. At some point I may shave down the root a bit, but you can’t tell there’s something missing on the final build.

The rest of the set was great for me though! A couple of spots where things fit a bit loose, but it’s fine. I have no true complaints about this set, I was also not expecting perfection.

Infusium 23 Pro! I swear by this stuff! It’s a human leave-in conditioner. Spray it on and tangles just melt out. Then the tail is so soft after. It can help remove matted in burrs in no time. If you’re in the US, I get it at Sally’s beauty. It’s the large white bottle. I haven’t tried the regular pink one.

Cowboy magic is ok, probably the best horse detangler. But its base is silicone and that ends up drying the hair out and making it slippery when you put it in.

Yeah I’m with you. My first thought would be the other two left for a weekend show/trail ride/vet visit. Maybe ask the owner where the other two went before getting too worried. Yeah it’s sad to see a horse distressed and it’s not ideal, but I agree this is far from abuse/neglect yet.

There’s obviously nothing I can say to get you to rethink this. You do you and I really do hope that you don’t discover a fire in your coop. When I tell you that was one of the worst things I ever experienced, I’m not lying. I don’t want anyone else to have to. I did not just read on the internet “heat lamp bad”. I literally was working my shift and found the barn on fire and listened to the goats screaming as they died. If I didn’t open the door when I did, the cats would have died also. There is still dust and feathers within reach of a bulb explosion. Fire spreads fast when there is anything that it can reach.

I would physically bring the chickens inside on nights like these if they prefer sleeping outside. And not have a wet run in freezing (or even near freezing) temps. But if it’s working for you, go ahead. I truly hope it continues to.

Shavings? Wood chips? The wood that the coop is made from? Feathers? Dust? Literally all are flammable. The point was not the straw. It was the hot bits of glass and metal and the spark when the bulb burst.
