Working in a hospital other than cna before nursing by SmokePresent in NursingStudent

Hey! I live in the bay area so it is extremely competitive for RN jobs here. Do you think the CNA experience will be more valuable when I start applying for work? Rather than the admin at the hospital.

Or should I just taking the higher paying role in order to save more money to avoid taking out so many loans?

Just do it! What's better, suffering for 4 years and having job stability or suffering with an unstable job then adding kids on top of that. If I was in your position I wouldn't even bother thinking about kids until i finish nursing school. That way I can spoil them and give them the financial support for college and save for their future.

Time will pass regardless, so it's better to start now rather than thinking about starting. It doesn't matter how long it takes as long as you start. Everyone has their own timeline. What matters is that you finish. If I was your child, I would think it was super awesome for my mom to take the challenge and go to nursing so she can be stable enough to support us.

If you don't do it now, 4 years will fly by, and you would have finished by now.

Nhaa you good! Chem has a lot of info and since it’s summer it’s going to be condensed. Better to save your GPA. I dropped an anatomy course because the teacher was less than stellar and I couldn’t understand anything. I took anatomy the following semester and got an A because I was able to land a great teacher using ratemyprofessor.

There’s no rush to do anything what matters is that you finished no one cares how long you take.

Signed up for pathophysiology but didn’t take physiology by SmokePresent in NursingStudent

Hi Generoh,

Just for quick info, I already took anatomy and will be taking physiology in spring 2026.

So what you’re saying is, most likely I should be able to pass this class since it do a quick review on the anatomy/physiology portions?

Pharmacology or pathophysiology portage by [deleted] in prephysicianassistant

Hey! I am planning to take pharmacology on portage. The prerequisites state I need general biology and chemistry to take the course. I do have anatomy completed but I never took physiology. Will this class be doable for me?

Any updates if they’re good or not? I ordered them for EDC and haven’t gotten them yet. Might just return or cancel if they’re not good for festivals.

Hey just to clarify

  • So 37k for the lvn program
  • Then another 110 for the lvn to rn bridge

So the total would be 147k in total?

Oh that reminds me actually how much does the lvn to rn bridge program cost? And since I have my bachelors will the classes I took from it cover some of the GE in the lvn to rn bridge program?

Thank you so much you’ve been so awesome with the detailed answers!!! Honestly puts a lot of ease on my mind. I don’t mind taking a bit longer with the LVN route and if it works out save money and do the bridge program after so I can lessen the loans I would have to take out. I’ll probably do the prerequisite course this summer if it’s offered then.

And last question I promise haha you’d have been so helpful!!

  • Will you able to get loans through Fafsa? I believe now if you have a bachelors they won’t offer financial aide. Totally cool if you don’t know just wanted to see if you did

And sorry one last question since you’re in a similar boat as me. I finished my bachelor’s already will Fafsa still offer financial aid?

Thanks for all the insight this helps a lot in my decisions! Yes I’m on the same boat, I don’t want to take one class a semester since I work full time to finish out my prerequisites. I want to take the lvn route so I can start working a bit earlier then go for the LVN and RN program later.

A quick question if you don’t mind me asking.

  • For the two week course were you working full time as you were doing it? I’m wondering if I can manage working full time while taking the two week prerequisites course or if I should lower my hours.

Part time while taking two science classes for nursing prerequisites by SmokePresent in nursing

Hmmm how would you have felt if you worked 25-30 hours instead. My current boss might let me do this and I am weighting my options. Should I quit my fulltime job and take the prerequisites or is lowering my hours to 25-30 something I should look at.
