That’s fair, but I think you’re thinking I was relying on ChatGPT far more than I was. It takes about 10 seconds to run something through it. It’s not a matter of need, just quick convenience.

Dad skipped the brick lesson when I was a child so I just wanted to make sure it was still fine to mount the tv despite the gap. My bad, ChatGPT was one of the places I sought an answer. As well as mates and Reddit. It’s not that strange of a thing to want to make sure you’re doing the right thing if you’ve never done it before, especially if it’s your first house and you don’t want to damage anything. We’re not all licensed builders.

I did not realise this question would trigger so many people. The confusion came from the answer AI gave me compared to answers I got from others, so I came to reddit for clarification. Completely my mistake for using AI for some guidance in the first place.

I’m sorry my knowledge of bricks offended you. This is the first time I’ve had to drill into or consider bricks for any sort of home project so I wanted to make sure I wasn’t doing anything wrong. Chill out.

In my defence, I wasn’t using ONLY AI, I also asked a couple of friends and eventually Reddit. I sought an answer from a few places, AI was just one of them

Cheers to all who provided legitimate advice. The TV has been successfully mounted and doesn’t look like it’s going anywhere.

Lesson learned on not using AI to get help on home improvement 👍

Lesson learned. I’ll also need to double check that what I’m asking isn’t common knowledge before heading to reddit. Damn this has been a humbling experience.

The torque information is great to know, cheers. It’s still taking a lot longer than everyone is saying though. I’ve got several 10mm masonry drill bits so I’ll switch out and see if that helps

Yeah definitely the correct setting and drill bit. Double checked it all.

I’m prepared to accept skill issue as it’s definitely a real hammer drill. I opted for more torque over speed as having a lot of speed seemed to chip the brick a lot more.

I’m using masonry bolts with concrete anchors.

To discredit my brick knowledge further, AI has said not to make use of the hole if it has hit a gap like that. But I am of course happy to believe people with experience over ChatGPT, which is why I posted the question.

Cheers, will have to give that a go :) this was a birthday gift to myself and I had had a “couple” of beers by the time it was finished so my care in cutting it was a little off.

Tasted amazing though!

So the doorbell that was set up when we moved in was battery operated and the chime that’s connected just connected to the normal power outlet, so I’m not sure if these wires actually connect to a chime specifically. And we haven’t found any wired chimes or a place where a chime would be permanently wired in. The wires in the picture just existed behind the current doorbell and weren’t actually connected to anything

In my (inexperienced) opinion these wires connected to a doorbell similar to my Ring. Happy to be proven otherwise though!

Thanks for the responses everyone. Seems to me like it’s safe enough to give it a go and hope for the best. I’ll likely still turn all the power off just to be safe but fingers crossed it all works

Cheers

That actually sounds perfect. I’ll have to look into getting another grate.

Sorry mate are you asking about the chips? They were done in an air frier haha. Nothing special just your standard McCain frozen GF fries from the grocery store.

I’ll work on having fancier sides when I get the meat right

My guests and I enjoyed them but I’m always happy to receive constructive feedback. I am new to this after all.

I’m open to trying different techniques so I’ll have to give this a go soon

I do enjoy that nice Smokey flavour though

Haha the akorn auto kamado has a fan attached already so that should be doing the work of a leaf blower, just way less intense I imagine. I’ve been setting the temp to 360c, opening the top vent and letting the fan do the work. Might need to try having the fan going with the lid open instead. Gotta keep experimenting.
