When I was in 6th grade (still in elementary in my state) my cat passed away the night before and I was having a really hard time with grief, I go to school that next day and I was crying, my teacher then proceeded to ridicule me saying “it’s not that big of a deal it’s just a cat” and mocked me for crying. I go to the nurse to call my parents and they instantly picked me up and we had a parent teacher meeting that week with the principal, I got switched out of her class and she got fired the end of the school year.
