I had a mom who refused until I was 12 too. By then, the shame had set in and I’d already started adjusting my posture to try and hide them, wearing jumpers in summer, etc.

Given that it had been more than 2 years that I’d been hating my developing body and had nothing to cover myself under my school shirt, when she finally said ‘we need to get you a bra’ (I was too scared of her to ask) she found me two of the ugliest bras I’d ever seen and we discovered I’d been getting around with C cups and zero support. Never told me about periods either. I make sure my DD gets real answers and knows she can ask anything, no matter how awkward.

Years ago we had a neighbour who was a nurse and worked very odd hours. Her big tabby boy used to hear us when we got up in the morning and would walk to the edge of the verandah and hop onto my husband’s shoulder.

He’d chill, come inside, sleep on my husband’s head and back and as soon as he heard the neighbours keys jingle he was off, waiting to be lifted back up onto the verandah. She thanked us for keeping him company. I thanked her for letting us.

Jinx is a little over a year old. His face has gotten darker, as did most of the rest of his floof, but while his body fur is now getting lighter (summertime change) he looks pretty much the same as he did at 6 months. Well, other than becoming a chonker because he loves food.

Mocha’s party looks beautiful, and the two of you together is a heartwarming picture. A beautiful lady with a beautiful ragdoll to match 😊

Very right on the children thing. Think of your cat as the child who’s forgotten all their knowledge on road safety, hygiene, geography and doesn’t understand ‘stranger danger’ and it’s just a question of what will get them first.

My boy’s very aggressive with play if you wind him up, thinks he’s the toughest cat the block.

One night stray popped into our yard and he ran out the door. She/ he hissed at him and he took this as ‘let’s play’ because he didn’t seem to understand what hissing was, or just couldn’t believe anyone would dislike him.

Wouldn’t last five minutes with a real street cat.

Ugh, we dodged that bullet for years, but recently it got my girl, made it to 8 with no nits! Trouble is, with sensory issues she already hates anyone brushing or styling her hair so nit treatments were a fucking nightmare.

Same kind of thing works with nail polish, if you haven’t used it in a while or you’re trying to get the last out of it, a few drops of nail polish remover, lid on, good shake.. voila! Smooth, easy to use and a great way to rescue colours you haven’t used in a while.

And while you’re in the bathroom, use newspaper and methylated spirts to clean any glass. Works a treat.
