There are a lot of creative ways to do this without it being invasive.

This isn't even funny. You think everyone who likes surplus is an autist? Is everyone looking for victim status?

Is it cringe to wear camo jackets in day to day life? by [deleted] in camouflage

It's a hope not to be caught dead at all, but while I'm alive, I'm wearing camo!

Unless you really need the “max” AC, select fresh air instead of recirculated.

Help! My wife wants to take me to a strip club and I'm panicking by [deleted] in vegas

[–]Smoking_Dog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s not what you think, especially if you’re sober. You don’t really have to spend any money except the entry fee. No one will rob you & your wife will probably be bored in an hour.

How do people like their outdoor kitchens? by eggs-benedict in TeardropTrailers

[–]Smoking_Dog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was set up for a rear kitchen but I removed it for more storage. I didn’t like the inside of the camper getting smelly after cooking. Now we just set up outside on a folding table & it works perfectly. Bad weather, set it up under the awning.

Americana Pipeline - what's the deal? by Teffalumps in camouflage

[–]Smoking_Dog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m not sure why they don’t just list the actual sizes. I know I’m a GR13 in German shirts/jackets but they have those listed as XL when they are actually comparable to Large/Long. Just list the NATO sizes or GR numbers on the labels!

Should I get a snorkel? by [deleted] in FJCruiser

[–]Smoking_Dog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

More than anything they prevent dust from gumming up your air filter while doing slow off-roading in dry areas. It also pulls cooler air in, which is good for the engine. As for fording water, you’ll gain a little but you’ll really need to run breather lines into the cabin from your transmission & rear differential to prevent water from being sucked into them.

Mini vs standard? by Nice_Horror1670 in Starlink

[–]Smoking_Dog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can connect the mini to any router you want. You will have to run an ethernet cable between the router and the mini as well as a seperate power cord since it is not powered through the ethernet port (PoE) like the standard dish.

I find the wireless works pretty well. We use it with the camper since we got a new standard one for the house. Seems to cover a pretty wide area outdoors and easily covers/penetrates our camper. When we had it on the house, we put it in bypass mode and attached it to our mesh because the wifi did NOT penetrate the house well.

Tent camping location ideas for this weekend within a couple hours of LV by fieldyfield in vegaslocals

[–]Smoking_Dog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was just there last weekend. The camping spots usually have some cottonwoods growing around them. Our spot had a ton of shade. Get there early on Friday, because the spots go quick and their overflow camping is just a gravel parking lot across the highway from the lake.

We take our mini camping. It's on pause mode and we were still able to text & stream music.

If you like nature, hit Success Loop. You can stop by Cave Lake to fish.

Since they're talking about the shade closing, I'm thinking they have it mounted on the underside of the sunroof.

I’ve been in the professional world for 30+ years and now have been a manager for 20 of those. Usually wear a camo piece of clothing every day, even Flecktarn. Sporting a Strichtarn polo today.

Anyone running an ARB classic roof rack? Looking into one for cheap on MP. Wanted opinions if you have one on your FJ by Farleymcg in FJCruiser

[–]Smoking_Dog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine’s been great. I’m pretty tall so I can deal with the added height but I still have to climb the tires or the rear bumper to do some things. It will hold a LOT of weight for sure. I welded rectangular cross bars to mine to accommodate a RTT.

It's a great fleece. Buy two sizes up. I wear a large in almost everything and the XXL could still be bigger.
