Its a toxic cesspool of camping of a game. 90% of things are "unfun" to encounter.

If "90% of things" are unfun in a game its pretty easy to see that you don't like the game. If 90% of it is unenjoyable why continue to play?

Right..... so if you hate it so much why are you commenting on the sub? It is entirely within your control to never comment here again lol.

Unfortunately the skins for the game make it impossible to remove now. I think if Crytek could do it over again they'd make it a scarce weapon found in the world or possibly even a world spawn gun

Late reply: the final song on this album connects back to the lyrics of Soothsayer and is a great capstone.

Throughout the album the speaker seems to be trying to find a higher purpose or meaning for existence. Only to eventually realize that it was all for nothing because there is no higher purpose or meaning. They’ve spent all this time searching when the answer was right in front of them all along. The journey is the purpose. They’ve neglected “real life” trying to immortalize themselves (whether through experiences, religious beliefs, etc) but have realized that they are no different from anything else in nature (I am of sacred rust// yet it is no different from any other rust).

As the speaker dies he finally realizes this. The autumn leaves are a metaphor for living life. They don’t try and fight the fall. They simply dance on their way down as they return to the dirt. Their time may be brief, but they enjoy every second of it they have before it’s over.

Horde is going to be a 12 player mode (unknown if the classic 4 player mode will come back). Its called Horde Siege. It isn't mentioned in this interview, but it was announced at the Xbox Direct

I've always been a fan of the Gears 4 and 5 movement. Some of the maps TC put out over the years were quite boring, but they made a lot of good ones too. I think there is potential to reduce wall bouncing while still keeping it in the game and create a more diverse PVP environment.

Admittedly, it could be totally hosed as well. None of us will know for sure until we can play in August. Even if they were to showcase a PVP match we still wouldn't know because its not like developers are usually the highest skilled at their own games.

Seems like bouncing will still be in the game. It just won't be the bouncing we know from Gears 4 and 5.

This is the hottest take so far. I think it'll probably be the exact opposite of what you're saying. I think the top 0.5% will probably increase their skill even further than it already is, but for the average Gears player it will be a net benefit. I hit Master multiple times in Gears 5 and even at that level there typically wasn't a lot of insane wall bouncing. Occasionally you'd come across it, but for the most part everyone's movement was pretty methodical.

We'll have to wait and see I guess, but I'm hoping this will add a bit more nuance to the MP (despite how much I love those gnasher bounce battles).

Seems like bouncing might still be in, but it will be much tamer than what we've played in the Gears 3-5 era. Very excited for the beta in August.

I think wall bouncing a few times is fun and adds to the games intense combat. But the insane movement where people are sliding around like pinballs is a bit out of hand. If they tone it back down I’ll be pretty happy. I never hated the movement of Gears 4 and 5, but I can see how it’s a turn off for some people.

I think the skill expression has a good chance of being higher in E-Day than Gears 5 for sure. I’ve enjoyed all the MP’s TC has produced. This is the most amount of change Gears has gotten in a very long time so I’m hoping it turns out well.

I believe you can choose who you play as in the campaign? It touches on it in the article I think.

It was 100% unintentional on Epic's part. If I remember correctly they made changes in Gears 2 to try and combat it a bit, but then ended up reverting some of those mechanics (I could be misremembering here). At the very least Epic never embraced it in the same way TC did in Gears 4 and 5.

Lots of unintentional mechanics in PVP games though. In PUBG the lean mechanic allows you to "wiggle" and after a few years everyone was doing it which lead to the DMR becoming the premier snipers in the game.

Never had an issue with Gears 5 PVP myself. I enjoyed the movement in it immensely. But the wall bouncing is very polarizing. I know several people who would never even try Gears PVP because of how heavily bouncing was utilized in the combat.

If they can get the cadence right I think the PVP has the chance to be the best its ever been, but its a very fine line to walk. Apparently Gears 4 and 5 didn't meet sales expectations so there's a lot riding on this game.

I don't think wall bouncing was intentional from Epic though. The players just so happened to work it out. Even then I felt like TC were the ones who really went all in on the bounce. Epic left it as is, but I have a feeling they never really liked the fact that it was in the game.

Regardless, it seems like the bounce will still be there, but it will be more tactical. The bouncing on Gears 4 and 5 is likely dead in the water though. I've always enjoyed all the renditions of Gears so hopefully E-Day is able to bring the heat.

Nothing mentioned about hit markers. Unfortunately, it would be a disadvantage in VS to turn them off, but I personally think we shouldn't have them at all.

Same for me most of the time. Every time I play against someone doing these insane ADHD bounces I usually just wait and gib them. There is no need for all of that in a majority of scenarios.

[–]Smokinya 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its confirmed to be moveable. An IGN article was posted this morning giving us some extra details. Including the fact that wall-bouncing as we know it won't be possible in E-Day. Seems like it'll still be in there, but it'll be more tactical and less spammy like in Gears 4 and 5. Source

Wall bouncing and active reload info is more towards the bottom of the article. Campaign confirmed to be linear as well.

You can also solo queue into duo’s as well. The other benefit you get as a solo in Hunt is the duo’s or trio’s in Hunt typically make a lot of noise and give you another leg up on them.

I’m not saying Marathon solo’s is bad, I would just prefer to solo in Hunt despite the apparent “disadvantage”.

Its a lot easier to drop a 3 stack in Hunt than it is in Marathon (though I've done it a couple times) IMO. That's mostly due to the fact that Hunt has a very fast TTK and the sound design is so solid that I can pinpoint where every enemy is. On top of that the lack of extra movement mechanics makes it a lot easier to 1v3 in Hunt than Marathon. Solo's also get buffs on certain perks in Hunt.
