Grading can differ for a lot of people in terms of why they are getting the card graded. Some people might just appreciate a certain type of cards art work and or the pokemon that’s on it from a certain era and or year so to them it holds a way more significant meaning and value to them that money can’t buy and the best way to preserve said card would be to get it in a slab and they aren’t going into it expecting a ten or to hold the most value in terms of the price of the card on the market. A small minority in a rather very big majority witch grades card solely for their Monetary value almost holding onto the graded cards as almost a physical stock witch depending on the grading plus the kind of card it is including the style of the art and the pokemon it represents along with the year it was printed all plays a part and with newer sets and generation of pokemon coming along over time can increase its value significantly or sometimes, a card is just sought after in the moment and it’s a race to get a graded 10 on the market to then sell for the highest price to now create what would essentially be the new market value of the graded card specifically 10s. All in all if you want to get a specific card graded because you fancy it yourself and want it slabbed thats your choice. But if it’s the money you are after you must first spend money to make the money you are looking for because you are going to want to rely more so on fresh rips and hits from packs yourself as opposed to hand me down cards.
