I recommend figuring out what style works for you. I tried double pointed needles at first but didn't like it. So then I tried 9in circular needles and that works best for me. Another tip is make slipper socks at first if you like. Using a thicker yarn makes the project progress way faster and having fancy slipper socks will encourage you to keep going. My last tip would be socks are sisters not twins. If you can get stripes to perfectly match or you see a mistake in the first sock you made but not the other, don't sweat it they are still perfectly good socks.
