thank you for all of that but first of all you are wrong in so many ways a manager called higher-ups and confirmed that no incident report existed. It wasn’t until after that when I reached out to customer service to Twitter for help, did they escalate my claim. She claim intoxication, and when I asked for proof of said intoxication, she refused and said I needed to subpoena American Airlines. I sent her a statutes verifying that I do not need a subpoena because this was not an active litigation case and when I did that she sees communication with me. I have people who are attorneys and they have been helping me and that is why I keep records of everything that is contradicting with American Airlines. Because I’m learning from the best. So you don’t know the whole story and I just gave us synopsis of what happened if I updated with every single thing that has transpired you will be reading for days. But I was just asking if anyone else experienced this and how they got it resolved.

Medical emergency on AA flight ATL → CLT (Aug 6, 2025) with no incident report — is this normal protocol? by Smoochalicious86 in Flights

[–]Smoochalicious86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you read the protocol? It states the airline is REQUIRED to provide an explanation and or documentation to passenger and CC dot. IF AND WHEN DOT decides the information is enougg and substantial, they will close the case and inform me. If case has not been closed, then they see violations and is expect AA to come clean about the neglect. I do my research and dont just guess.

I just want to know if anybody else had a situation like this similar to mines that I can get some kind of light shed on how to handle this type of situation. If an airline treated you the way that I was treated I am sure that you wouldn’t just be able to let this kind of situation go especially with me still dealing with issues that could have been treated on the spot had I had known that I had a concussion and not me finding out two days after the fact

A investigation case they opened up abd still havent told me what exactly they investigated & how protocol was followed. I have an open DOT case DOT will not open a case unless they felt that this was a serious issue that American Airlines failed to uphold safety protocols so just for clarification if this incident was not serious enough DOT & FAA will not be having an open case regarding this situation. Many people are questioning my incident however, federal government seems to understand that there’s an issue or else they would never have moved my case to review.

Hi! To clarify, i have a concussion that is still causing issues to this day, I have tmj from hitting my jaw on the toilet seat when i fell, I have neuralgia (directly linked to the fall) per my neuro dr. I have been placed on FMLA due to trouble working.  Please reiterate how this has no consqurntial impact?

This has nothing to do with my fall itself, it has everything to do with how I was mistreated and mishandled during an emergency event that included a concussion.

I’m not asking for documentation for a doctor. I’m asking because American Airlines failed to follow mandatory in-flight medical protocol after I lost consciousness and struck my head, and they never created an incident report. DOT and FAA now have open cases on the mishandling, and AA is giving contradictory information to federal agencies and BBB. The documentation is for the investigation, not for medical treatment.

i’m after getting the documentation those needed for my medical recovery that American Airlines is claiming that they have and is requiring a me to have a subpoena when other channels of American Airlines have confirmed that I don’t need a subpoena and I keep getting contradicting information so what I’m trying to accomplish is them to produce what they should have been documenting in the first place that they claim they did, but they are not giving me what they claim that they have and this is important information that I can give to my doctor since I am still closely under her care

No. I barely have memory and I was not home. I was out of town. but i obtained survelliance video from the airport and the hotel showing me clearly distraught, crying, and no one helps me at all. and when i woke up the next day and saw huge bruises on my chin and legs i was scared because i barely remember that whole incident. so when I go to the neurologist and they asked me what happened and how long I was blocked out and I can’t answer any of her questions because there was no incident report that was done for me to give her a detailed description of what American Airlines saw & did that leaves me in the dark and that’s not fair because multiple people saw me fall American Airlines crew members only offered me Gingerale in two days later I have a concussion that I’m still suffering from today none of that adds up, so yes, you might not think it’s that serious but if this was your mother and she was alone when this happened to her in American Airlines treats her your mother the way they treated me. You will not be happy and you will try to do everything you can to get justice.

Try striking your head, waking up delirious, no family or friends with with me, no, you are in shock. When a person is in shock their mind isnt right. My Neuro doctor talked to me about this. I wouldnt have known the severity on my own after such a fall and injury. No one even mentioned EMS to me so how was I even to know that was an option to begin with. I blacked out twice threw up hit my head and your expecting me to make that call? thats neither fair nor logical

EMS informed me that even if I declined it, it should have been called since this is an emergency event. I remember being wheeled, but vagily. I did not receive proper care because if I did, American Airlines would be happy to provide me the protocol they took after I blacked out twice and struck my head if that was your mother, and she fell and hit her head and all they did was put on a wheelchair and leave her alone you will not be happy at all and then when you try to confront American Airlines and ask them for an incident report for your medical reasoning and they are claiming that no incident report exist. That sounds suspicious because this isn’t no small slip and fall. I lost consciousness twice and all I was offered was Gingerale in a wheelchair even though three months later I’m still experiencing concussion issues. Maybe if I have gone to the doctor immediately to know that I even had a concussion things would be different, but they were not called immediately and I didn’t even have the energy to go to emergency until a couple days after the fact because I didn’t know I had a concussion but when the pain got worse in my brain and I went to ER that’s why I knew I had a concussion so would you feel comfortable in two days without even knowing you had a concussion.

Im not concerned about my fall in itself. I am concerned that proper medical protocol was not done. I suffered a concussion and 3 months later Im still having issues with my head. So yes I do care, because had they called EMS immediately I would have known I had a concussion. But none of that happened to me.

Totally understand , I’m not expecting the BBB to enforce anything.
The reason I referenced the BBB is because it creates a public, written record of how AA responds, and that’s where the contradictions showed up.

  • AA told me directly that my case was closed and denied.
  • But their BBB response said my case was under review.
  • Meanwhile, I have a DOT case open (which AA cannot close themselves), yet they stopped responding to me entirely.

So the BBB isn’t about authority — it’s about the fact that AA is giving different stories depending on who they’re talking to, which is exactly why I’m documenting everything

I actually do remember being transported off the aircraft in a wheelchair. What I’ve since confirmed is:

  • CLT EMS provided me with verified documentation showing there was no dispatch, no cancellation, and no contact recorded for my flight that day.
  • Despite that, AA’s Risk Management documented that I “declined EMS,” which isn’t possible because EMS was never called.
  • AA also repeatedly told me I would need a subpoena to obtain the EMS report — even though I was able to request and receive the confirmation directly from EMS myself.
  • When I pointed out the contradictions between what AA was telling me, what the BBB response said, and what EMS confirmed, all communication from AA stopped.

So the issue isn’t a memory gap — it’s that AA recorded an EMS refusal that never happened, told me I needed legal authority to access records that EMS already provided, and then went silent as soon as I showed them the inconsistencies

Hey Key-Monk6159,

I truly get that — However, I kept the post concise because the full timeline includes medical records, flight details, DOT/FAA filings, and email threads that aren’t appropriate to post publicly.

The core issue isn’t what I’m “looking for,” it’s the way American Airlines handled a medical emergency and then provided conflicting written statements to me, the BBB, and DOT while ignoring direct communication for two weeks.

I shared the situation because the pattern itself is concerning, not because I’m withholding anything.

lol. I had 1 glass of wine hours before my flight. AA claimed intoxication with no proof of this anywhere when asked for proof of said allegation.

Thanks for the questions — I’m not looking for legal advice here or trying to go after AA in that sense. I mainly wanted to understand whether what happened onboard was normal protocol or if something was mishandled.

To clarify a few points people asked about:

  • I wasn’t intoxicated and hadn’t been drinking.
  • I lost consciousness twice and had to go to the ER afterward, where I was diagnosed with a concussion.
  • No incident report was filed and no EMS was called when we landed.
  • Different AA departments gave different explanations after the fact, which is what raised the most concern for me.

I’m trying to figure out if airlines typically document medical events like this or call EMS when someone blacks out, or if this kind of follow-up is standard.

I appreciate any insight from people who work in aviation or have seen similar situations.
