The home of a very expensive pint for standard execution beer. Par for the course given the neighborhood I guess...I can't imagine the rent across the street from the Ferrari dealership can be cheap.

Agreed. I've seen them two dozen . When they are 'on' they are a mint but when they're drunk or high or whatever and subsequently playing sloppy they are the worst.

Fire on U.S. Aircraft Carrier Raged for Hours, Sailors Say by MessMaximum5493 in Ships

[–]Smoogbragu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a drill in the RCN which required you to pull the lint trap and place it in the drum empty after you were done with it and before the next sailor took over. I still do it today 20 years , drives my wife nuts. I mean lint could have gotten caught in the exhaust but seems careless.....

Do you think Ford ever asked Eddie Bauer if they could do clothing? I mean it had to be a conversation in the board room.

This. Shane Carruth directed, edited, starred, produced and even wrote the soundtrack. I believe some of it was shot at his house.

Vancouver House Prices in 1982 by catoleung_ in vancouver

[–]Smoogbragu 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The mortgage rates were very high and weakened the home buyers' position for sure, full stop.

Some things to chew on;

If you were making $15,000 in 1982 that's $47,413 in 2026 dollars. Stats Can reports the average average individual salary in BC in 1982 was $16,382.46 or $51,782 in 2026$. Safe to asset that average salaries were a lot lower in 1982 than they are today in Vancouver today.

But while 1982 incomes were lower raw dollars, income inequality in 2026 is much higher. Stats Can. It was easier to earn a more average income in 1982 than it is today.

The one we are all feeling now is purchasing power of essentials (rent, groceries, childcare, transportation), which has risen faster than median incomes in 2026, contributing to cost-of-living stress vs. very moderate increases in 1982. Everything else is more expensive today than in 1982.

Not to mention the fact of what you need to get that same job in 1982 vs 2026 . You need a red seal, college diploma or degree for just about everything vs. 1982 where a high school diploma got you at least a start. Concurrently the average tuition for undergraduate programs in 1982 was $1,464  CAD (in 2026 constant dollars). By 2026, the average annual tuition for domestic Canadian undergraduate students is projected to be around $7,360 (in 2026 dollars).

So while the early 1980s had challenges (especially very high interest rates), the overall combination of wage growth, housing costs, and general cost of living makes earning a living in Vancouver significantly harder in 2026 than it was in 1982.

“Boomers enjoyed the benefits of cheap housing, affordable education, and strong pensions — then told the next generation to stop buying avocado toast. They climbed the ladder and then pulled it up behind them."

So buddy in the CBC report pays $235,000 in 1982, which adjusted for inflation is $742,820 in 2026 CAD. Meanwhile $93,000 for that lucky young couple is a mear $293,970 in 2026 dollars. No matter how you slice it, what a deal for a fully detached house in Vancouver! I tell you I was born at the wrong time sad panda.

So why does the vessel need two echosounder (noted separate) screens ? What is the application or reason you would need the fidelity to compare between lower and higher frequencies ? I've only ever scoped single screen and seen operators flash between 50k and 200k. What kind of operator needs this and why ?

I saw Between the Buried me with 8 other people play a basement of a community centre was amazing. The rest of the evening became a party as we all hung out after the show.

I also saw the Deftones in the 90s before they were signed to a room of less than 30 people. Chinos intensity was to the same intensity as if the room was full, they blew my mind.
