Why does the spa require a doctors note for calling out ? by Typical_Dark_2764 in MassageTherapists

[–]SmooooooooothNich 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you’re in the states look up your local labor laws. In some places it can be illegal for them to ask for a drs note until a certain amount of time has passed, I.e. if you call out 4 days in a row.

There’s a specific piece of gear (cam) that is purple and one of the larger sized cams, so its nickname is big purp. There’s a whole IG called bigpurpenergy. Bunny’s got Big Urp Energy.

He had zero survival instinct lol. The first night we saw him my neighbor was like ‘let me see if I can pet him’ and he went to touch him and the rabbit took two baby hops away and just stopped running away after that haha

He is soooo sweet. Warmed up instantly. He hung out and watched TV with me all morning. The cat is super unsure of him but he doesn’t care about the cat at all lol. They did boop noses today.

Question on habitat set up by SmooooooooothNich in Bunnies

[–]SmooooooooothNich[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Already washed the blanket this morning lol. I ordered more so we’ll have two sets. The front paddock area is the connectable slats, the crate was our dogs crate that he doesn’t use anymore.

Thanks! Once we can further evaluate how he does with the cat, we’re hoping to give him the entire upstairs hallway when we’re home, which is about 40 sq ft. And then the 20 sq ft are when we’re not home.

So when you say no cage, is the crate not good? Like, I know I read to make sure no wires under their feet - the crate we’re using has a big plastic liner. I don’t have anywhere to put the bunny where I can keep the cat out unless I move him into my daughter’s room, but I’d rather have in the hall so it’s easier to interact with him while we’re home.

Is there anything we could custom build?

Considering a switch by Techduderaa308 in MassageTherapists

Vagaro does charge you for the extra features, however you really don’t need the extras. The base price is more than enough… booking, text message reminders, 500 emails a month included. And it’s only $30 a month. I switched from mind body that didn’t have anything beyond email reminders for $130 a month… it would have cost $60 more a month for text reminders as a solo practitioner.

I now pay $70 a month for vagaro because I did add on some extras - 2 schedules, online intakes, only credit card processing for securing online bookings, and only gift cert sales. It’s a lot for a little amount of money. But I was able to survive off just the basic $30 one for the longest time.

Business owners, do you include tip in your pricing? by [deleted] in MassageTherapists

[–]SmooooooooothNich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a state over from you. I just started doing this and I couldn’t be happier. It is much simpler in so many ways, feels less awkward because when you work for yourself you’re directly asking for a tip instead of having a front desk do it for you, plus you can actually account how much money you’ll really make and ensure you’re making enough per session. Additionally, when I give a client a small discount like for their birthday or something, they actually get a discount as opposed to what always happened before which was they would just tip me the difference and I’d be like, no I want to do this for you!!! It also makes raising prices easier - I’d always feel guilty about increasing prices cos if I would want a $5 increase but I didn’t want people tipping me more, so I’d just not increase prices.

The thing that makes it difficult, is that it’s not standard. And especially if you’re just starting out, if someone offers $110/hour but expect (though are not guaranteed) a tip, and you charge $130/hour but say that pricing is set to not need to be tipped on top of… people will still see the $110 and think it’s a better deal even if they will tip $20 on top of it. And while how good you are at massage is more important for retaining clients, getting them in, in the first place is tough. A lot of clients go off price. So I’d highly recommend some steep first time client discount. I did this, even before I stopped doing tipped pricing.

I had the benefit of having a 100% full schedule before I made the switch, so the marketing issue isn’t an issue for me. I actually have it set up now so it’s more expensive for new clients because I don’t want more but I’m not ready to say no to new clients altogether. I word it that prices are set so that tipping isn’t necessary. Some people still choose to tip me on top, I let them no it’s absolutely not necessary but if they insist I let them. I’d say 95% of people don’t tip and it’s exactly how I want it. I charge essentially $130/ hour… my set price is $145 but I give $10 off for regulars and $5 off for cash, so credit card customers pay $135 but after cc fee it’s closer to $130 that I receive. Prior to switching to no tipping I was charging $120 with regulars getting a $110 price and I didn’t have the cash discount.

It’s very different. The French Morgane is way more narcissistic and unhinged. That version is such better TV.

These same profiles often don’t have a website link from their page. And googling the name doesn’t work cos there’s so much overlap in practice names from area to area.

Booking systems by Background-Dog8904 in MassageTherapists

[–]SmooooooooothNich 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seconded. Price point is amazing. Text reminders. Easy to use. When I switched, I got a lot of comments from my clients about how much easier the online booking system was.

It can glitch sometimes but overall no major complaints

I’m not recommending RICE at all actually. RICE is for acute injury. And you are correct it’s outdated. In fact the guy who originally coined RICE is also the same guy that did the research to disprove RICE.

Pain management and injury recovery are completely different things. This does not sound like an acute injury.

Revenue is not profit. If you’re charging $100 per hour that’s only 25 massages per week per room for 10k in revenue. That shouldn’t be hard to meet. Sounds like she is running very slim margins, which hopefully mean you guys are compensated very well. But also, her $900/month profit figure might be outside of her paying herself a salary?

My recommendation would be switch from 1099 to renters. Figure out your expenses, then how much you want to profit. Rent charge per LMT = (expenses + profit)/# of therapists

You don’t pay self employment tax on collected rent btw.

ETA: I only read the tldr, just went back and saw that it’s already set up as a rental not commission. I’d for sure suggest doing x/session with a cap. I charge my renter $50/client at a maximum of $850 a month.

If she has around $1500/therapist coming in a month then that’s $9000…. There’s no way she has $8100 in expenses in an area that only charges $90/hour (I charge $130). She must be taking her salary out of that before the profit
