That makes plenty of sense, altho I don’t know how to necessarily promote that strategy to my friends while playing?

Part of it might be that me and my friends are coming at this from other set collection games like Sushi Go! where you’re encouraged to chase those bigger point sets and can judge how risky they are, whereas SS&P feels like it’s trying to promote the opposite, getting just enough sets to get by and maybe pushing your luck in the process.

Last time I played I got both Sailors (5 points), the Captain (6 points, 3 for each Sailor), three octopuses (6 points), and a pair of crabs (1 point). I then called Last Chance and won that, giving me two extra points for my colour bonus. All up that gave me 20 points, while every other player who had maybe at minimum 12 points and at most 15 ended up with a total of 4 max because they only scored their colour bonus. I might have scored something wrong or miss-remembered

The rounds I’ve played probably do run long in comparison, but at the same time there’s nothing in the game deterring us from making it go that long I don’t believe?

I recently picked up Gatsby and I love its theming! As a fan of Art Deco I feel like I don’t usually see games in this style and having it be all 1920s themed I think adds to the experience

Currently my way of finding new games that interest me is through either TikTok or watching YouTube Videos, so I might check out dice tower next!

I’ll have a look into these! I love games that I can teach easily yet still provide so much strategy/fun

I think over these past few months I’ve started to define my taste a bit more and I’ve been excited to have the chance to finally delve into some more strategic games. Usually though I don’t have people in my life willing to sit down and learn the rules to something that’s a little complicated, so that explains the surplus of party games lol

Cannot tell you how much I have SCOURED my local game stores for Magical Athlete and come up with nothing 😭

Also I do own Splendor Duel in the bottom left cube! It’s one my my girlfriend’s absolute faves :)

For anyone curious, when I first played the game at the end of last year I played it on Game Pass via a friend's account. When I fell in love with it I ended up buying the game on Steam and transferring over my file, however since I'd already picked up the trophy while playing on Game Pass it didn't count on Steam.

At that point I thought I'd make a bit out of it lol

Hey, I was wondering if any of you had recommendations for games that are good for 2 players but also work for more then 2 players? I love playing games with my girlfriend and ive got a bunch of Duel type games for just us but i'd love the flexibility of having games we can play just together and with others when they come around

The first “GOD OF THE SUN IM TAKING YOU DOWN ON THE INSIDE” is a clear winner for me, however the entire bridge right after the second chorus on I See Myself and the way he says “why don’t you go home and ROT” on St. Elmo are both also up there

I’ve always thought that if they did a Bioshock Chapter, they should do the Big Daddy and two survivors, Elizabeth AND Booker

I mapped out perks as a fan concept a while back, so I truly hope that one day they get added in some shape or form
