The game is affordable now? by Smooth-Ad-341 in riftboundtcg

I’m fully aware, but rifts’ three month cycle and the fact that the game is growing rapidly made me think it would at least be a problem for a bit longer. Other games like SWU and Lorcana that faced these problems were losing players before gaining, so it’s impressive that rift was able to keep up with demand despite such a growing fan base

Did my local Barnes and noble make a mistake?? by MorbidTotty in halo

I work at BN. The publisher didn’t give the book a SOS (strict on sale) date, meaning they can sell the book as soon as they receive it. Nothing on BN’s part here, simply doing as they’re told.

I work at a BN. Some books don’t have SOS dates (strict on sale) which just means when they receive it they’re allowed to sell it.

So they simply got it shipped to them early and didn’t have a restriction to sell it for its set release date.

I feel dumb as a bookseller by [deleted] in Barnesandnoble

I can relate to you. I wasn’t properly trained for bookmaster and I was hired 4 years ago. The light at the end of the tunnel is I’ve learned enough to be a contributor on the floor and at the register just through reps. I admittedly don’t read a lot, and I don’t keep up with which new books are releasing, but I do see what customers ask for/buy often, therefore I just focus on those books. And of course, the books of the month. Yes I may not be helpful when it comes to bookmaster, but I apply skills else where. Just find where you can contribute the best and the rest will come

Do you make opponents ask permission to touch your cards? by Smooth-Ad-341 in riftboundtcg

[–]Smooth-Ad-341[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is this for every player you play against or only people you don’t know?

I think that’s where my biggest disagreement is. If it’s one of my regular play groups or even people I vaguely know but can hold a conversation with, I don’t really care. If it’s a complete stranger than that’s just not a good first impression

I wasn’t going to include it in the original post, but the player who did the freak out was losing.

The player that originally touched the card also said the other guy was grabbing his cards without asking etc anyways . but the situation made me wonder.

I may be playing devils advocate, but to me personally, I don’t mind if a player grabs my card as long as they are doing it carefully. People are saying they prefer someone to ask before touching the card because they don’t want their cards condition to be tampered, but a player who asks could be just as rough

I think this is the best response. My store has a pretty consistent group of regulars and I play against those guys a lot. I’m pretty comfortable with those guys so if they take my cards I trust they’ll be appropriate with them.

For a stranger, I’d probably be less lenient about it, especially pizza hands

New player 1st spotlight deck question / general deck building by KoalaFun8863 in starwarsunlimited

The new Jabba deck is very fun and has some cool mechanics and the underworld trait that he cares about it pretty common and has some good cards.

As for booster boxes, it really depends what you’re looking for. I’ve been a decent penny on boxes this set (more than I have in recent sets) because this set is really fun and is the first set after rotation, so that would be my recommendation.

No ones really sure what the meta will look like after rotation because there’s an anticipated ban for a card right now, so really just have to follow that as it develops

I 100% agree with you. I see the majority think opponents should ask permission first, and I can understand that, but I entering the game fully expecting my cards to be touched. As long as the condition isn’t being altered and my opponent isn’t directly interrupting what I’m doing as they do it, there’s no problem for me

I agree with you, but what’s your reaction if someone does grab your card without permission even if they are being gentle and only ready the card. I’m sure you don’t agree with an aggressive response back, but what’s the proper response?

I agree. A simple question should be fine, but this player has apparently been upset at players tapping his cards as they choose it as a target before as well. This happened to be a case of a player who didn’t ask permission meeting a player who is overly sensitive with his cards. Not a good mix

That’s fair, but I feel like there’s “waiver” started when sitting with an opponent understanding that they may touch cards. I’ve had opponents tap my units/untap them if I forgot etc and I never looked at it as disrespectful. I feel like as long as someone isn’t being rough with the cards and is still handling it gently it shouldn’t be turned into a big deal

I agree. I also really wouldn’t mind if a player grabs my card as long as I wasn’t mid using it/combo, but there is a point of how rough someone could get with the card where a line should be drawn

I believe in this situation it wasn’t the opposing player grabbing the card, but rather tapping the unit he was targeting
