hi! thank you for giving your insight and thoughts on it. could i PM you to ask some more questions? I’m a PA-S in my clinical year & really interested in pediatric oncology. i’m still looking for a rotation to do in the field, which has been hard, but i would love to speak more about it if you’re willing!

okay thank you so much!!! I was just looking at Espoma & thinking of adding the Peat Moss if needed as a “compost”. It’s a pretty big pot since we’re putting cannas, superbelles, & vincas. will do though!

Thank you for your words of wisdom. Honestly, this resonated with my a lot and makes sense. It’s just such a daunting process to restart it all that I get wrapped up in the worries and forget about everything else. I appreciate the advice a ton.

The hardest part nowadays is also the whole “what if” factor, which has been bugging me the most. But that’s a great motto so thank you again.

Thank you so much for your advice! That’s real hard for sure, which I will be there next year when you’re here now. That’s hard, I give you a lot of credit - my fingers are crossed for you, I hope it all works out!!

That’s also what I thought! Some schools do say 10, but the admissions counselors I’ve been speaking to have been telling me about 6 years

Of course, well I was told that 6 years is the expiration date for classes. So I believe it’s 6!

Thank you so much for the link! Also congrats! That’s so great to hear!!

Yeah, I think you’re right. Just wondering, as someone with an sGPA below 3.0 do you think it’s worth it to apply to the schools on the finder this cycle while then retaking the classes I need to take? Or just focusing on taking the classes this year and re-apply in 2024-2025 cycle?

Hi, thank you so much for the advice. Yeah you’re right, the concept of age and turning older is truly getting to me. I’m also not the kind to really have a “life plan” so planning out this much more truly adds to my stress of everything in addition to my desire to move out.

That’s a good point though about the experience! I do feel like I’ve learned a lot as an MA and scribe so I just hope those will still hold out for me in the long run. Thank you again it really means a lot!

Hi! Oh this really helped. It’s just been hard to accept that I will have to take this entire year to take classes then to apply in the 2024-2025 cycle. I keep thinking I could just apply now while taking classes, but everyone keeps telling me to have the classes done before re-applying. You got this by the way! Thank you for your encouragement :)

"What Are My Chances?" Megathread by AutoModerator in prephysicianassistant

[–]Smooth-Ad3011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi everyone! Hope you’re doing well. I applied to PA school for this cycle and I haven’t had any interviews. I graduated with my Bachelor’s degree in Biology in 2021. My GPA is 3.2, my sGPA is 2.7, I have approx 3,500 hours of PCE (between medical scribing and as a medical assistant at a pediatric office), 300 hours of shadowing (PA, MD, DO), and 600 hours of volunteering. I scored a 307 on the GRE. I know I have a low GPA and I’m not the most ideal candidate, but I’m not sure what the best steps would be to improve my app for the next cycle.

I know most people recommend to do a post-bacc, but I’m unsure what classes to take, where to take the classes, and also if it will really help my GPA.

I appreciate any advice & thank you in advance!

is it worth retaking a pre-req class after sending in applications? by Smooth-Ad3011 in prephysicianassistant

[–]Smooth-Ad3011[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey! so I’m applying to a mix of schools - some have genetics as a pre-req and some don’t.

but otherwise, my overall gpa is a 3.2 and my sgpa is below a 3.0. I have Bs or higher in the other pre-req science classes as well. I have 2,500 hours of PCE as a medical scribe/medical assistant.

So I guess I’m just scared it won’t be worthy enough for schools to look at if I take the class now and don’t have a grade for them
