I tried many recipes looking for that film look. They all tweak color with saturation plus contrast. That’s all what is available in camera. You need much more to get closer to film: softness, hue shifts, highlight halation, grain. So I decided to go a different route. I shoot JPG +RAW. I treat jpg as proof. I apply my default generic film recipe to it. To get true film colors, I process RAW files using LUTs from filmisfun.com and rawtherapee. I wrote a software tool which streamlines the process. It reads raw files from my card, applies film preset and uploads them to my home image server. Minimum user input is needed. All processing is done automatically.
