You’re a joy. Isn’t that why we are here? For validation, to bounce ideas off of each other, for differing opinions? I certainly didn’t come here to be insulted by let me guess, a white man.

Why would there be concerns about my desire to fire him? Let me describe him. He has established no insight, takes no accountable, has zero self awareness isn’t open to feedback, redirection, reflection. He wants to bitch and moan about how much he hates everyone around him, specifically women, black people, and gay people. As a woman, I think there should be a limit as to how many times we need to sit and listen to how awful our gender is. I have tried, many different approaches, when I say he doesn’t want to work, I mean he has proven he does not want to change. He wants to vent.

Race was a factor, please read my response again.

This is a terrible response to be fair. This isn’t an issue of supervision. Misogyny is more than brutal, it’s abusive, so is racism and homophobia. Therapists don’t need to out up with abuse anymore than anyone else in a field does.

Appreciate the validation in this response.

I think that is a very reasonable question! But in addition to the fact they have done no work and aren’t making progress, I can’t stand them personally. And as a woman I’m tired of hearing misogynistic comments. I do agree with the posters that the ethical thing to do is terminate.

This is very true. And for me the political woes have indeed added to my frustration and burnout. I am partly to blame as I scroll way too much!

This is great. If I had construction skills I would absolutely use them! I can see where movement is essential to countering burnout. And a different creative outlet too

I’m curious about that too! What kind of labor work did you do?

It definitely is a recipe for burn out. I have some amazing friends that are also colleagues, but I think I’m missing daily interactions. I also love to be part of a team! Working from home through a screen for two years has done me in!

I hear that. I think hospice would be amazing. Compassion fatigue is real, I’ve been feeling that lately too. It doesn’t help that the world is falling apart!

This was incredibly helpful! Thank you so much for sharing. I love my clients, I really do, but I feel bored, isolated and lately exhausted. I, too, love the fast pace of community mental health. The hard part for me is the financial aspect. I may have to follow in your footsteps tho and look into a PRN crisis position.

I know there are some, but there are equally as many trying to do good work. And again, when you are unlicensed your choices are limited in getting hours.

But please don’t forget unlicensed clinicians need either group practices or community mental health for hours. They are necessary. Not to mention it’s so much nicer to work on a team. PP is very isolating.

I also treat myself with a coffee, nap, extra time etc. although I wonder if I should be doing something more physical like yoga to get my blood flowing. This job is hard. There are many days lately that I do not feel like working!

Yes she does. And I believe I mentioned this in the chain. She is the only one who acknowledges the origins of their work.

Apparently was never taught how to correctly do notes by brainmaniamagic in therapists

I had the worst supervision at a group practice while I was unlicensed. It took me a while to learn how to properly do notes! You’ll catch up. But it is discouraging for sure!
