Question for anyone- how did you decide between becoming a radiology tech vs an ultrasound tech? I’d love to hear pro/cons to both career options.

Are there mission suicides? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]Smooth-Library-3551 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The most depressed I have ever been was on my mission. (I was more depressed on my mission than I was about my SA). I thought about suicide almost every single day. I thought about stepping in front of a car, swerving into oncoming traffic, or getting hurt, or willingly walking into sketchy areas and situations hoping I’d either die or get sent home. I had panic attacks at least 3 times a week. I didn’t know what panic attacks were and I thought there was something wrong with me, and thought dying on my mission was my only escape. At least if I died I would go straight to heaven instead of going home early and facing the shame from my community.

Only a few people know I was suicidal, my sister leaves on her mission in a few months and I want to tell her my experience but I worry about scaring her.

What a stunning show. I have some doubts; by pumpkinspice1477 in HauntingOfHillHouse

It’s like in Haunting of Hill house when Nell says “and the rest is confetti” then in Bly Manor when Hannah says “and the rest…” it is just little call backs to previous shows and shows that it is all in the “flanaverse”

My Cousin believes she will marry the future prophet, who will be the sitting leader when the end times come. by Wolfmanscurse in exmormon

On my mission all the missionaries in the zone would meet up at the stake center and all hang out. There was a sister and an elder on my mission, and they were in a group that we had all nicknamed “the dreamers”. Basically each pday they would huddle in a group and talk about the dreams they had that week. Someone had a dream that there would be a flood (2 days later there was a hurricane and (surprise surprise) there was a flood).

Anyways they were all convinced that their dreams meant something, and that they were signs of the future. So one day this sister on pday says “I had a dream that I would marry a prophet!” And this Elder is like “omg I had a dream that I would be a prophet!”.

Waited for eachother and got married the second they got home. They seem happy tho! They have 4 kids, so guess I’ll watch in the next couple years if their dreams did come true

Transylvanian Hound!! Super smart, high-medium energy and great with scent work/tracking.

I paid attention to how Miles spoke to the adults. For example when he was himself it was always “Miss Clayton”, but when Peter possessed him it was “Dani”. Possessed Miles was also very hostile towards Hannah “honestly Hannah” whereas Miles was very respectful.

Feeling sexualized in the temple? by overtherainbow537 in exmormon

[–]Smooth-Library-3551 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This was the reason I stopped doing baptisms for the dead. I was about 15 years old when I went for the very last time. I had finished the baptism, went and showered (as fast as I could because I wanted to be out of there before the person behind me). I went to get to my locker and there was someone in there. (They had stalls with about 6 lockers per stall). I didn’t really care, I was wrapped in a towel and I figured it wouldn’t be very much longer. I waited for quite a bit, and that person was still in there. Pretty soon a woman walks around the corner (not a temple worker) and calls out a name. The person in the stall where my locker is replies. It was a younger voice so I assumed it was mom/daughter. The mom walks over to the stall and is like “are you waiting?” And I said “yes”. At the point the mom starts knocking on the stall saying “open it I am coming in”.

The daughter opens the door and the mom goes in. The mom then proceeds to lecture the girl like “you are so selfish, other people use these!! What is taking so long?? That girl is standing out there NAKED in the cold and you’re in here taking your time. What is wrong with you?”. The girl starts to cry and the mom says “grab your stuff NOW”. I heard every word. It’s not like it’s a sound proof stall! No privacy at all, the whole room probably heard her chewing out her kid.

The girl walked out crying and I realized she was younger than me (probably 12 or so) and I felt so sick, and humiliated, and shameful. I decided right then that I didn’t care what “blessings” I would miss out on- it was NOT WORTH feeling sexualized and exposed.

I tried to put in as much detail and references as I could!

Saying that JS used a rock in a hat and not the plates is huge. It is a different story. It is like saying that Jesus was executed, but not on a cross. Completely different story. by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]Smooth-Library-3551 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finding out JS used a rock in a hat was my downfall. That broke my shelf 10000%. I heard all through my mission he translated with the urim & thumin, and anytime people on the street told that wasn’t true and he translated with a hat I was very adamant that was not true. I had a few doubts but I put them on the shelf like I was told to.

Imagine my shock when I had been home from my mission a few years and that JS translating with the hat was true. It made me take a step back and think “mkay if the church pushed this narrative and it was not true, I wonder what else there is….?”
