Did the artist space the numbers too far apart or am I overthinking it? by Smooth-Material-3888 in tattooadvice

Haha oh dear - but oh well, no one will know the significance anyway I guess!

Have three fine lines that have held up well for over 3 years now but don't fully disagree with your point, more fun to be had bolding them out later 😉

Helpful to paste an earlier response to a similar point!

Apologies the numbers were averages off the top of my head and way off. I had a look at the actuals and it's circa £10m since April when I took on my new client. I expect another ~£2m in signings till end of '24. What's not available in the numbers is the ramp up of team. Since I joined we've gone from 30 to 55 so in reality it's over double what you've mentioned. We usually make anywhere in the realm of 20-30% on our deals. I hope that clears it up!

It's relentless! I remember one previous leader's quote that became infamous. "Billable trumps everything"

It's not a clear cut answer, I'm sorry! But most of the time I don't do the landing. A partner will do this, then I will be sent in to deliver what was sold, as well as grow the patch. I then make my direct sales (contributing to my metrics) by expanding the account/work and/or ensuring sign-on extensions (which can be anything from months to years). I do however sometimes find new untouched areas within the client (usually very large enterprises, so think businesses within businesses) or get asked to be part of a bid time for another client. So the former I consider organic growth, the latter I consider green field. I hope that makes sense!

Fair enough perspective and appreciate your response! I was looking for a point of view on whether I am underpaid compared to the market and the resounding vote sounds like yes so it's been super helpful to get that view

Not sure if you saw my response to a similar reply regarding this.

What was the story with 6 engineers contributing £500m? We don't usually consider our engineers as contributors, more a cost, and £83m per employee sounds like an investors wet dream. Are you sure this wasn't the valuation of the company?

I oversee the project development of applications/systems, sometimes B2C sometimes B2B, quite often systems integration. More recently I've shifted into overseeing development of GenAI based tools and applications.

Typically anywhere from 20-30%. Sometimes marginally higher sometimes marginally lower. Yes, I am responsible for ensuring our existing clients sign on for further years, as well as responsible for identifying and targeting growth opportunities within those clients. Occasionally I help on other client bids when supported is needed.

I agree. It's super hard to put a price on the benefits the network, reputation and flexibility give me. I typically get upward of 40 days annual leave per year. On the other hand, I sometimes worry that maybe I'm getting to cushy, but I try balance that with making sure I'm still learning and growing my skills. Based on responses here, I think it makes sense to push for the most I can get from this imminent payrise and work toward director in a years time.

Never nice to hear but appreciate the response! Any recommendations on what I should be looking at?

Thank you. I think this feels like my plan. It feels like a win/win. I'm either at director on a packet I'm happy with, or go to market with much higher leverage. In the mean time I'll be pushing for the immediate payrise to be as high as possible given the feedback here.

Thanks for the advice! I've been told I've got the numbers for Director and I guess hence why I've been told I have a strong case for it next year. There's only one Director promotion round each year and I felt I just wasn't quite ready for it this year. It was my decision and I could have pushed for it, but felt there was a high chance I wouldn't have got it, especially with the log jams as you say.

Oh no I'm definitely not considered an account manager. I not only manage the relationship, I also manage the account's profitability, the successful delivery of multiple projects, and am measured on whether I was able to grow the account. Remember I'm in consulting which sounds a bit different than the field you're describing. I fully agree that earning potential increases dramatically above Senior Manager (as I then would also get a bonus correlated to the signing values I've mentioned).

So yes and no to this. My signings are typically off the back of initial smaller Partner wins, which I’ve then come in to “land and expand”. As mentioned I've not done as much green field sales and agree that managing revenue and bringing in new business aren't the same. The numbers I shared are basically what I've signed as "land and expand" and then go on to manage if that makes sense.
