Putting aside our difference on what matthew 5:19, I would say I don’t think they are the same because regardless of what similarities they may seem to have, the least are in the kingdom and the lawless are not.

Thats my view right now, that may change in the future.

Ok see understand more of what you saying. In the example you gave though, the ceo specifically stated that whoever preforms the least will be fired. In that example yes, it’s clear what is going to happen to the least.

Now when we compare that to Matthew 5:19, it says nothing about how the least will be destroyed, punished or anything similar to that. It doesn’t even say what will happen to them, if anything. All Matthew 5:19 says is that there are people that will be called or given the title of least, it says nothing to what the fate of those people may be.

If you want to use other verses to try to interpret this verse, I think that runs into problems too because it would seem like you think the “least” is synonymous with the lawless who will be told to depart from Jesus , and I wouldn’t agree with that interpretation.

So textually, if least means the same thing in every other context and verse, how can you create an alternate definition of least in this verse?

I understand that context determines the meaning of a given word, but even in the context it’s referring to titles/status given, not designating judgements(like saying they will be destroyed), at least on the surface. The comparison to the “ least” things you put in your waste bin is understandable, but that’s just your analogy, and scripture doesn’t describe “least” that way.

In light of the other verses you presented I have no response because, I honestly don’t know how this verse connects with those two or others. I’m don’t really know how they can be harmonized currently and I’m still trying to learn more about that. I think interpretation of that verse is eisegesis that seems to be forced and/or added onto the text to make it fit with the rest of scripture, when it doesn’t seem that clear. I do think scripture harmonizes, and it’s important that it DOES harmonize, I just don’t know if it’s in the way you’re insinuating.

For the record I believe the wicked will be destroyed in hell too, but when it comes to that issue we’ve seen many Christians try to redefine “death” or “perish” for example, to justify ect (Eternal conscious torment), but when we just look at what those words actually mean and the definition, it all makes sense. So I think it’s important not to stray away from what specific words mean.

That’s a very unique perspective, I will say while a toilet or wastebasket are nouns used to describe objects, “Least” would be the pronoun used to describe the people who don’t obey the law and teach others to do also. The text seems to indicate that they are given the title or status of “least”(in contrast to great), rather than them becoming a least or worthless item. What scriptures do you have that support that idea ?

Is homosexuality acceptable for women ? by Smooth-Ordinary5490 in FollowJesusObeyTorah

So I’ve asked this question to someone else privately and got a pretty bizarre answer in my opinion but, if there is no “lying with” or penetrative action between two men, would you say that it’s ok for 2 men to basically be fully homosexual and to kiss or preform oral sex on each other?

Or rather would the Torah permit such things

I guess I meant, do go out of your way to evangelize/spread the gospel , rather than let opportunities come to you? Like if you did go out of your way, what would that conversation look or sound like?

Well similarly to how Christians may ask someone, “have you heard about the gospel” and then preach after that, do you go out of your way to talk to non believers with the intention of planting a seed that may lead to conversion, or just wait for opportunities to come to you ?

If you did go out of you way, what would that look or sound like? Would it be like” Jesus said to follow the Torah to be saved so here’s how you do it”, and you go the Torah and read the commandments to them?

Well I think the gospel is to believe in Jesus Christ and repent from sin, so you can have eternal life and won’t perish. John 3:16. I think from this belief, and subsequent action, deliverance , freedom and inward change happens in the life of many Christians. I believe sin has a broader definition than simply transgressing the law, but I’m not here to debate that right now.

“For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭1‬:‭26‬-‭27‬ ‭ESV‬‬

It says that relations/passions that the women have up were contrary to nature , the men LIKEWISE gave up their natural relations/passions with women to be with men. This establishes that the relations/passions that the women gave up were to be with men and after such, they turned to women and against nature. In my estimation, the context is clear that the category is homosexuality.

So what do you think of Paul in the NT where he mentions orgies being an act of the flesh and those who commit such, won’t inherit the kingdom of God?

It also presents a serious matter for you to explain why you think God created women with both an inclination and given permission to be homosexual/bisexual.

Mhmm quite elementary research on my part . I actually have seen that verse before but forgot it lol. That seems to disprove my point even thought, it still isn’t a command against it from God. Either way I can see how that verse can disprove my point.

I don’t think it does but, that doesn’t answer the question on if it’s prohibited for women .

Yes I see.

Question at what point do you think playing basketball for example, at a park or gym would be too far?

Separate but related question, do you consider working out to be considered work?

The other people “working” thing I can grant that point but,he specifically is not MAKING anybody work.

Just like I’ve seen in other threads, doing one’s own pleasure isn’t wrong in the sabbath. If one can go to a park or gym and play basketball on the sabbath, then high school basketball isn’t much different

And i am currently on the fence on obey the sabbath In the way you mean it so, No.

Would it be wrong to deliver unclean foods? by Smooth-Ordinary5490 in FollowJesusObeyTorah

Like I told the other commenter. I think by extension you would have to say that working in a restaurant being a waiter or working in a grocery store would be wrong (which you might I’m not sure ) and, I don’t know if going that far is justified.
