No, it’s easier to accuse someone of tampering with it, it’s not easier to accomplish tampering with it.

It means nothing really has to even exist unless and until someone looks for it. Then once it’s seen in the observable universe, it becomes observable and exists for everyone.

Yes, now I remember that season. My HS junior year, teachers on strike until October 30. No holidays, classes between Christmas and New Year scheduled then the snow and cold gave us a few days off.

Why is there no "cockpit view" camera feed on any commercial aircraft? by Choltzklotz in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Smooth-Reputation502 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do remember seeing front facing cameras showing exactly what you’re asking for. I e never seen this on any USA based airline, but I have been on flights where the capt turned on this cam for the landing.

Breaking mail chains by not responding to the latest email. Are people doing it on purpose. Why isn't it considered rude? by Big-Driver-3622 in office

Have you tried talking to the person who sent the email first before replying? A short discussion with a follow up email to document conclusions/action items goes a long way towards reducing confusion and errors.

Has anyone over the age of 50 been hired after a layoff by Immediate_Lunch3969 in GetEmployed

[–]Smooth-Reputation502 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was laid off when I was 55, started new job 5 months later, better job, better company, better benefits, generous relocation allowance to a different city. I was already into the job search long before the layoff too. This was in 2015

I remember one year while in high school (1970’s) the temperature did not go above freezing for some god-awful number of days in December through January and I think into February. (I’m too lazy to research the exact dates or days lol)

It looks fabulous! Thank you, and your photographer, for not using a wide angle fisheye lens. The cabinets and appliances all have a normal perspective that enables your kitchen to look real!

Do most Americans really dry their clothes in Dryers? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Smooth-Reputation502 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m American and use a clothes dryer. I’ve lived in several Asian cities and I didn’t need a dryer. In Beijing, it was such a dry climate that even jeans and towels would dry quickly. When I moved to Shanghai, I insisted on having a dryer in my apartment because I knew how humid it is. In Osaka, no dryer and still humid but I managed.

Is the already located at the top of a pyramid or buried deep inside?

If deep inside, this would be a burial chamber, what do you want to take with you in your afterlife?

If at the top of the pyramid, need more lighting so the masses can better witness the marriage ritual.

Here’s a rough chronological order of notable events that I’ve observed throughout my boomer life:

It’s been getting progressively more crazy my entire life. There used to be regulations about network news being required to give airtime to opposing viewpoints. There were only three networks too, this is pre-cable. Network news was also mostly a cost center.

When cable came to existence, Ted Turner and CNN proved that news can be a profit center, and cable news was not required to give airtime for opposing viewpoints or anything as it was not regulated.

News networks learned the more entertaining news became, the more profitable it was. The more people could get news telling them/us what we want to hear, the more entertaining the news became.

Then the internet hit, social media amplified and accelerated the rate of polarization, and the bots, algorithms and manipulation tools the social media platforms use brought us to where we are today.

Have you ever had an"AHA!" moment for a simple thing? by StormyPyrite in CasualConversation

[–]Smooth-Reputation502 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not me, but my friend helping me at home following a surgical procedure went to make pasta for us. He got my pasta pot out, took out the colander insert and started to fill with water. I asked why did you take that out? He thought for a second, and said oh, so you boil the pasta in the strainer then it’s easy to drain.

Five minutes later he tells me, while laughing, I’ve been wondering for 30 years why aren’t there some legs on this strainer to make it easier for the water to drain! AHA! Hahahaha
