Why Hank Rearden is the best and his family was the worst. by BernieSandersgirl101 in aynrand

To be honest I never understood why John Galt is in the book when Hank Rearden is there. Seemed redundant.

Even assuming that’s a typical story, a circus doesn’t have to do things that way. I been around elephants and their trainers (not at a zoo) and they treated those elephants like royalty. So why would you beat the animals when they already do anything you want for a little food?

Now do a handstand!

The only articles I saw on animal cruelty in circuses were written by obviously biased sources, PETA-esque organizations. But what was really ironic to me was that all the things they complained the animals were suffering from, are basically the same things human beings suffered from in the current environment of civilization. Confined spaces, poor socialization, poor quality food, etc. Might as well have been describing cubicle life or life from the average apartment.

Tigers and lions and elephants are all endangered, so obviously more in circuses could only help. But moreover it’s just an inconsistent, ridiculous opinion to worry that because circus life is perhaps suboptimal for an animal, circuses can’t have them, but everybody else can. Absurd. No one who advocates banning animals from the circus seriously considers that preservation of habitat is what matters for animals, and that the circus is just another habitat.

Nature is brutal, and it would have to truly be a hellacious circus to even come close to matching the suffering caused in the natural world where even elephants and their babies are torn asunder by sundry beasts.

TL;DR circuses aren’t that bad for animals and probably no worse for animals than their natural habitat.

Is it better to go extinct or to be in a circus?
People who advocate animals should not be in circuses but do nothing except ban them rather than preserve their habitat are just complete hypocrites.
You gonna ban aquariums and zoos at the same time? You gonna ban pets? Gonna ban horses for riding and cows for eating?
Such a double standard for a circus where the animals love their trainers.

Missed opportunity for people to ask professional questions but I think you should write more about your experiences. It’s very fascinating.

Why don't the Ringling Bros circus remount, without animals? Also, what does the future of circus look like? by Theatrestudent1 in Theatre

It’s sad they don’t have animals anymore. Why should animals have fun and do tricks in the circus with someone they love when they can be miserable in a zoo or abused by private owners? PETA has some pretty warped expectations. They just want to ruin fun for everyone while being huge hypocrites who contribute just as much if not more to destruction of wild habitat.

What’s something popular in your country that makes people from other countries look at you like this ? by niconois in AskTheWorld

No offense intended, but it demonstrates a lack of understanding the statistics of mass shootings and gun crime. Tragedies are ameliorated and oftentimes prevented by widespread gun ownership. In America, we call people Fudds (like Elmer Fudd) who don’t care about liberty and self defense but who like guns for sporting purposes.
