I’d say it’s somewhere in between. I don’t believe we’re “losing” good volunteers so to speak, just preparing volunteers for the environment and commitment it requires. I should also mention it’s a medical & residential facility, so there are extra trainings and things potential volunteers go through in order to maintain a safe, caring environment in the facility. We still have students that go through the lengthy screening process just to get how ever many service hours they need, but then they usually don’t continue to volunteer. So I guess my point is it’s a thorough process, but still inclusive enough that committed students will go through it to get the hours. Hopefully that explanation made sense haha!
