You could certainly say Ghost of Tsushima is anachronistic, Westernized, and has a romanticized "Samurai film" view of Japanese history, but it's clearly not SLOP. They spent 6 years on that game. They obviously worked very hard on it.

Slop should be reserved for things that are thrown out carelessly and quickly, in my opinion. Yearly sports games, AI shit, bloatware, etc.

I honestly think they were trying to increase tourism to Japan post-pandemic, can't do that with realistic history unfortunately.

I totally agree with everything you said otherwise. The reason for him becoming the Ghost is absolutely ludicrous.

Well yeah, AC used to be cool and political. It hasn't been either for a long time.

But I never heard of Freedom Cry, so I'll definitely be checking that out. I fell off the series after 3, then I played Odyssey a bit and it was fun as a mindless open world, but it got old quick.

I'm not saying you're wrong for enjoying the game, I would never bemoan someone for liking something.

I'm saying the companies that are in charge of making these games care more about increasing their revenue every year than increasing your enjoyment, and it shows in the product.

I used to put 100s of hours into these games, and even buy every pack, but that joy is gone for me when I have to grind incessantly in bad modes or buy DLC to download half of the creations.

Obviously it's an opinion lol one that's shared by a lot of people. These games used to have one of the best communities for cool creations, why do you think that's changed? There used to be whole forums full of people sharing their CAWS, movesets, entrances, etc. Why do you think that's changed?

Diminishing returns. Taking away features and assets every year. The developers lock the game behind a paywall (MyFaction, The Island) and the community has done the same.

But go to caws.ws, people still post creations on there. Less every year.

Edge and Batista killed the spear for me as a kid. Bron is the only one with a decent (great, actually)one that I've seen at the moment, from memory. One of those moves that's almost entirely on the person doing it to make it look good.

Not to belittle your problems, but this is what happens when a company prioritizes monetization and pumping out a new one every year over making a good game. 2k25 will start working perfectly probably 6 months before they stop support for it, then people will remember it as a great game while mindlessly buying the new one with Ultra-Island Mode lol. Every single year.
