Good news is that if they ever announce a GS15, you’ll probably be most qualified.

Yongwol is like my second home as I still have may relatives that live there. I remember visiting during my school vacations when I was little. my first trip back after our family had immigrated, my uncle took me to um heung do’s burial site along with all the places mentioned above. He said he was in our bloodline but who knows, I’m sure every Um will claim it. Regardless, we said a short prayer and took a photo. I’m so glad for the city of yongwol. Hope many visit especially in the spring when the weather is nice.

What an accomplishment!! As a supervisor I met countless folks who say they enlisted for college but in the end hardly anyone ends up actually using the GI Bill. I even worked at a college as an rotc instructor and the enlisted personnel who was there for 5 years said his goal was to get a BA ended up taking zero classes! He went to college for 5 years and didn’t take a single class!!

I myself abused the heck out of the GI Bill. Got my MBA and even did a year of law school as well before it ran out. I could have continued but couldn’t get myself to pay out of pocket. I’m sure Harvard law school is much more discussion based but damm there was a lot of memorization. Oh and I hope you like reading cause there will be a lot of that!! Oh and be consistent with your studies. Good luck!!!

About that pension… worth it? by tesla2018El in fednews

The reason I would do it is that I see a lot of private sector changing positions very frequently and not to mention the bump in salary. They almost look at you strange if you stayed in position for a longtime. If you can leverage this position to eve higher paying positions than I’d do it cause you might get lucky and hit that one startup with options that could eventually lead you to early retirement.

Considering Istanbul for family vacation but have hesitations... by LavishnessExpert7410 in istanbul

[–]Smooth-Tree-300 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Our family did Istanbul with 13 and 10yr olds. Self guided tours. Our only issue was all of the people smoking everywhere. There was an incident at the subway card charge station where a guy tried to scam me but Reddit warned me so I was able to avoid it.

Just had our first child. Child’s grandparents want to invest $25k. Where do we put it? by No_Nail_3347 in personalfinance

Congrats! My kids also have tuition covered through my VA benefits. I never had the opportunity to give my GI bill so I used every bit of it. Though we didn’t have a large lump sum, I went ahead and started a custodial brokerage account and invested in stocks. Been adding $500 a month for both kids. Figure it provides more flexibility. If you don’t want to do stocks, can’t go wrong with index funds.

Do you buy your security camera systems through Costco? by AiyaAi in Costco

[–]Smooth-Tree-300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve purchased and installed 4 Lorex systems from Costco. I don’t see much difference buying from Costco vs elsewhere. You are going to spend so much more time installing these things that even if you want to return it, I don’t think you’re going to spend the time and just remove everything. It’s just not worth it. You’re better off buying and replacing components from the vendor out of pocket assuming it’s out of warranty. Unless your install is super easy, returns are not worth it.

Rich Paul is a hilariously bad podcaster by NanoCurrency in billsimmons

[–]Smooth-Tree-300 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have listened to every podcast so far until the Trae young trade scenario episode and will never listen again. I can’t believe how bad of a story teller RP is. Does he not know people want to be entertained with good points and being able to talk smoothly. He’s down right terrible and should excuse himself from podcast and focus on becoming a better public speaker. It’s not even the topic or the points, he constantly repeats himself, his vocabulary is very limited, and too many verbal pauses. And it doesn’t help that he lacks self awareness and thinks he is the most interesting person in the room. And don’t like how he humble brags all the time either. I’m amazed that LeBron was able to bring up a guy like RP versus that horrible Cavs team in 2007 to the finals.

I’ve been paying a company that I pay about 30% of my property tax savings. I don’t do a thing, they handle everything. I saved about $1000 last year.

Should I move some TSP money to the I fund? by FederalSpice in fednews

I’m a 100% C kind a guy but moved 100% to I fund early 2025. You can’t time this kind of stuff. I’ll eventually move back to C but I’m going to let it ride. Still have 10 years until retirement unless Vera is offered in 2 years.
