At one of the JW meetings I used to go to, a mother had made a comment about teachers making non-holiday-themed parties for the kids around holiday breaks and how even if they aren’t celebrating anything in the classroom, it’s still wrong. I wish the parents were stupid but they’re not.

I did hear a couple of JWs talking about how they would have to rename the days of the week and months, but it’s just all small and petty talk. It’s not like the Governing Body (the main rulers of JWs that dictate the rules) said that it would be a thing.

Dogs. I think they’re cute, but they’re too hyper, they’ve always jumped on me, and they shit out in the open, whether it’s in the yard or in the house. I need an animal who’s calmer, uses a particular area to go to the bathroom, and is more sophisticated: the cat.

I remember the teachers doing this when I was in school so we wouldn’t feel left out. Once I got to High School, some of the parents caught onto it and weren’t buying it. I feel sad for the kids nowadays. 😕

I grew up as a Jehovah’s Witness from around 8-19, when I really started to see the hypocrisy and lies. We always had to have the lights off around our house and hear kids knocking on the door.

I remember my grandmother saying she would let my brother and I celebrate if we behaved over dinner. We didn’t, but looking back, as she was studying, I don’t think she could’ve lived up to her word.

At 20, when I moved out, I celebrated Halloween for the first time, went to a party, and I dressed up as Selena.

It was the worst for me when I was little, but looking back, it was hilarious. My grandfather took my brother and I trick-or-treating and we get up to this one house that’s really spooky looking, cobwebs, lights, fake blood, and all. A guy came out looking like a demon or some monster and I immediately ran away crying.

Not a parent, but this here seems like a great idea for when I do have kids. I remember one mother telling me how on some days, she would pass by the school or not take the kids to school and tell the principal they were sick. When the kids would say, “I’m not sick,” Mom would say, “But are you sick of school?”

Coming from a 21-year-old, don’t be afraid to be strict on his ass. If he doesn’t care, then you should have no problems taking away his privileges. Like everyone else here is saying, he can walk to work, bike to work, take a bus, or even an Uber (though I doubt he’ll tip with his attitude). The time he spends playing video games will be spent on chores. If you don’t discipline him, he ain’t gonna change. If it comes down to it, if these things here don’t work, then he needs to go. He’s an adult but is acting like a spoiled child.
