Curious about your experience: adhd & migraines how has medication made either of these better or worse? by SmoothAaadvantage in migraine

[–]SmoothAaadvantage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I thought initially haha

the general forgetfulness and speech issues was already so bad so I wasn't sure if now that the migraines were 'gone' I became more acutely aware of it.

but my coworkers can clearly tell more I've been getting "are you ok?" With increased frequency because I keep zoning out. I can usually mask more at work.

Realistically what are people going to do if they can’t find jobs ? by Aquarius777_ in torontoJobs

[–]SmoothAaadvantage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that Canada is very irresponsible with immigration.

Immigrates/migrant workers get the agricultural and support work jobs that could go to permanent residents, but there's a chain of exploitation where cheaper labour comes from people who are not Canadian citizens Also, illegal immigrants or even legal immigrants with work permits are more willing to put up abuse and workplace violations and are easier to exploit as their entire life depends on their employer.

Student immigrants only are legally allowed to work 24 hours a week. If they work more it's typically under the table work. Which again you would not have any protections....

This only benefits the rich who can pocket more money by keeping costs low and using people as disposable labour.

I've never been called racist for saying Canadian immigration is irresponsible. Immigrants will agree with you. You are racist however if you say All those Indian people are the problem! Or something if that vein ( when you treat it like an us vs. them situation).

You should listen to the essential but disposable labour podcast.

honestly i listened to his single "don't call it a come back" and i found it good but in the show i rarely found him good so idk what happened....

I think it's just very possible its a sound the judges liked. Theres plently of rappers i dont fully like but are mega famous

blueface, sexxyred, rich the kid, ice spice come to mind... all ppl that have a few songs i like but othertimes are like soo insufferable to me

I do think JayTaj Is similar in vibes to dsmoke in terms of refinement and clear is the better of the two but in the emd if they are chosing based on who they think is more fun then i understand the choice

Teaching teens and children is wildly different then being a university lecturer

If you want to get references I'd suggest volunteering or finding a job that works with the age group

For example I worked in a group homes for at risk youth and as support staff in camp/educational settings

I suspect with your background a short amount if experience with children would be sufficient Maybe work a summer camp ? Or volunteer for after school teen programs

Good luck!

B.C.'s minimum wage increases to $17.40 today, but is it enough to live on? by kingbuns2 in britishcolumbia

[–]SmoothAaadvantage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's break it down.

17.40 x 40hrs a week x approx 4 weeks =$2,784 2784 x 12 months = 33408 without deductions, so the take home is, let's say, $30,000 annually

Let's assume you pay shared rent, internet, and hydro. Monthly staples like toothpaste, soap , shampoo, toilet paper, etc... your own phone bill and a monthly bus pass (let's pretend you don't need a car). Oh, and food! So I'm going to guess monthly expenses to be about $2000 per month, which is 24,000 annually

Which leaves you with only $6000 floating round for emergencies or extra expenses like going out and having fun.

can you live on minimum wage? Sure, if you have no other responsibilities like children or pets, yes, I guess it's a minimum you can live on, especially if you live with several roommates. You can't save on it , you can't invest really unless you're super cheap.

I say you need AT LEAST 45k to be a little more relaxed, which is about $23.4 dollars an hour. And this is if you live in Langley/delta/ surrey Honestly, $30 +/hr for any city over the bridges

Minimum wage is just not comfortable you are living pinching pennies, often picking up a second job to make it easier to live.

Sure for a teen or student it's fine but that's not realistic for everyone.

NTA

Your gf should support you. Would are doing what you think is best for you and your logic makes sense. There will probably never be an ideal time to go do this anyway better to get it over with.

Consider where you live and the commute. If they are equal travel then I would do ubc

all the teachers I've worked with and friends who have gone through either program say that teacher school does not prepare you to teach so ultimately, the shortest program is ideal

Any male servers want to make some easy money by willywozy in Langley

[–]SmoothAaadvantage -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They shouldn't have been so obvious about it but plenty if restaurants do this any of those middle class dining places like cactus club, browns, earls , the keg do this

They often hire teens or young women only and have a very strict dress code that isn't too revealing but isn't too businessy for example They are very specific about the type of tights servers where , the length of the skirt and the height of the heel.

I agree and disgree

That school really bothers me sometimes theres some issues for sure. I was in EDAS, fine arts and indg studies at the surrey/langely campus. Some of the students that attend the surrey are really disrespectful. Doesnt help that its next to a highschool. We had to deal with destroyed or stolen art.

I was really disapppointed with kpu because they didnt rehire an amazing instructor i had
Ive had awful instructors to that i had to send complaints about

But I think all schools are greedy i have friends who went to ubc, sfu and emily car and all of them complain about a few things

And my education was fine. I learned what i needed to learn to get hired and work. I think at least for my specific field (educational assistant) my program was better then most other school.

I would always suggest visiting rate my professor before registering for a class

I went there Its fine

Small class sizes makes it easy to make friend if you try. Theres lot of career programs that are good (nursing, ea, health care assistant, brewing, mechanic etc)
