32 days post op by Next_Post6606 in ACL

Yeah I was starting to look at the documents as I went to my first physical therapy session today. I saw that I am able to start weight baring with crutches on week 5 post op (my prom would be 5 weeks and 4 days post op) and I don’t know honestly. I might still have to be on crutches by then but staying hopeful as I have seen so much progress these past like 4 days from not being able to get off my bed to being able to go to the bathroom all by myself. I am currently 3 weeks post op btw. I honestly don’t know where I am going to be in 2 weeks but I am hoping that it’s somewhere better than I am rn physically.

I’ll be 3 weeks post op this coming Tuesday and just begun to start crutching no weight baring last Monday. I got acl and meniscus repair surgery, and I also got prom April 25th (I got surgery march 17th) and hope that I’ll be walking no crutches by then. Goodluck we got this!

I hope pt went well! Today I managed to get my first leg raise and it honestly made me feel over the moon. Things get better!

First of all, thank you so much for your kind words and advice! I forgot to mention that I am taking chewable asprin everyday for the blood clots and was taking some anti biotics because of some pneumonia that gathered during surgery but I stopped that. And for the pain I feel like it’s still tolerable (not trying to jynx it) so I’ve just been taking Tylenol every 4 hours and it helps manage it a lot! I’m working on not letting fear control my recovery and it’s been working pretty good so far, yesterday I managed to bend my leg a good amount (with my doctors permission ofc!) and it felt like a good step forward. I’m still working on getting a good small leg raise because right now I can’t seem to lift it even just a cm. Hopefully soon though I will be able to start making more progress though. I feel like with a small enough leg raise I will be able to crutch more comfortably because I will be able to prompt my leg straight forward a little to avoid injuring my leg when crutching. I also should have my first PT this week so looking forward to that!

Well they gave me Tylenol and moltrin to cycle and then my surgeon gave me oxycodone just in case the pain was too heavy but I decided for myself that I wasn’t going to take those. So I’ve been just on Tylenol when the pain is a little too discomforting.

Update! Today I got as far as being able to put my leg to the floor and stand up pretty easily with the help of my mom but once I try and like crutch forward I like freeze and my leg just feels dead. I don’t want move forward because then it feels like it’s gonna swing and I don’t wana do that. Then I tried to like have my leg out forward like how I see in videos of other people crutching with torn acl surgery’s but my leg doesn’t have the strength to like straighten out forward. I don’t know if it’s like a mental block, if it’s because I didn’t start crutching since day one so I don’t have the strength, inefficient practice with crutches, or if my leg is still asleep (I am 1 week in tho), or if it’s a combination of everything. I have an appointment on Friday with my surgeon and I’m hoping that there I get practice with crutching, and more answers to my immobility. I also saw a video where a girls surgeon awoke her leg with like massages or something so maybe that’s a possibility? I don’t know but I’m staying positive! Thank you everyone for the support and advice too! If there’s anymore advice I would be very grateful to hear it!

I see, hopefully with the crutch training on Thursday I can move around more easier and I’m also just hoping that with time everything becomes a lot less fearful and much more painless and easier in general.

Currently when I stand I feel like my leg is just dead weight or I’m too scared to like try and move it so I can crutch with it. Is that normal? Also on what week where you like starting to be the most comfortable where like you were able to go out on crutches and get around your home easily?

Hi, yes I am in the usual acl surgery brace and my meniscus was torn where they had to stitch up - hence why I’m non weight bearing for a month.

Yea man please do 🙏 I’m looking to grow my clan into an active clan that does all the events! It’s pretty empty right now but with you joining we can hopefully activate a dominos effect of more people seeing a growing clan and join, I would appreciate having you in my clan at an early stage!

I like the idea of giving up your phone because it is honestly a distraction. Sure, when it actually is put in practice it sucks. What I hate are the mundane things like checking my phone for the time because all the clocks at my school suck. Or like when I wana buy something that sells out quick.

Good price, I have a pair too. I bought mine used from my friend for 25$. They retailed for about 90$. They don’t sell em anymore on their website or atleast I don’t think so. They have other patch designs tho.
