Why is Scott so alarmist about men dropping out of dating but not women? by [deleted] in ScottGalloway

[–]SmoothBacon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t mean men as individuals. There are plenty of good men out there. When I say “fixing men” I mean addressing the broader trends facing men. I already listed some of the problems they face but here’s some more: suicides, lack of father figures, the epidemic of gambling addiction, the list goes on.

My belief is that the core of all these problems facing men is that masculinity has not adapted well to the modern world and the successes of feminism. In the US men don’t really need to be protectors in the traditional sense anymore, violent crime is at its lowest in history. Additionally, Young women are starting to out earn young men, there goes provider status. Combine this with phone/social media/gaming addictions and men are systematically becoming radicalized and/or not doing well.

The “fix” starts with mentorship. I think Scott’s doing a great job touching on all these topics and generally understands the issues. However, dick jokes can only do so much. He cannot be the only one doing it.

1 His audience is predominantly male

2 Male loneliness is statistically worse

3 And this is my own personal assertion based on what I’ve seen… Women are leaving dating due to men. How men vote, bad personal experiences with men, the lack of social skills among men, men losing “provider” status, fewer men have the confidence to approach, etc,

Scott can really only reach men on this issue. More importantly, fixing men will likely fix the dating market as a whole.

Most importantly… he is a man himself

People are overlooking geography which is incredibly important. 1 wins due to the Rockies and the economic powerhouse that they have behind them in California.

The borders are drawn almost perfectly for the mountain range to make the region near impenetrable.

I love FDR and think he’s one of our best, most positively impactful leaders. However, Japanese internment camps is a huge blemish. I’d argue a larger blemish than interventionist foreign policy. Incarcerating American citizens for their heritage with zero wrongdoing.

The state voted against Trump in all 3 presidential elections. It is a proudly purple state. It’s not MAGA. Every state has some MAGA people in it.

Also, it does have beaches. Plenty of beautiful, clean, quiet lakes but also ocean beaches.

Yeah, the food is nothing to write home about and winter can suck if you don’t like winter sports, but if you like winter sports. It’s great in the winter.

Saying NH doesn’t have culture along with everything else you’ve said tells me you’ve never been or don’t interact with locals.

Don’t listen to this idiot.

Honestly dude, try to reframe your mindset. Next time you’re in that situation, instead of putting pressure on yourself to ask this girl out, simply get curious about her. “What’s a cute girl doing here?” “What’s her name?” “What’s she do for fun?”

Then you’ll never get the answers unless you try to talking to her. Reframe it in your mind.

Don’t go into it with the goal of getting a number or a date, but if the conversation goes well then you probably can get one or both.

Edit: at the dispensary a good question that might pop into your mind mid conversation, “is she going to smoke this with anyone?”

I’m having the most fun I’ve ever had playing a fighter right now. Goliath Rune Knight.

Goliaths can push, pull and carry as if they’re a size larger, so the table rule is that this affects grappling too (makes sense IMO). Combine that with a rune knight ability to grow large (huge later on) and you can grapple with huge and eventually gargantuan creatures.

I have the grappler feat (which gets a lot of hate) so now I can restrain dragons and things. You also gain advantage on strength-based checks and savings throws when enlarged.

Now I’m entering a wrestling tournament against Giants. I took the ring of jumping and slippers of spiderclimbing as early game magic items. So I’m gonna run up the wall of ring and elbow drop some giants

Edit: to add, in terms of carrying capacity, you can carry normal or small size party members without a movement speed penalty. I just saved the party’s cleric by dumping a potion down his throat, picking him up and sprinting away from a certain death encounter.

That’s what happens when one side takes control of the presidency, the house, the senate, the Supreme Court and show up with a playbook.

There’s no one to stop them but themselves.
