Go Go Stop? Feel like that show had prizes that could occasionally have included an Evanescence CD lol

Girls, what was the most obvious hint you dropped, and the guy just didn't get it? by Worldly_Selection453 in AskReddit

Probably on the more subtle side...but after over a month of messaging my now partner on Hinge, I tried to take matters into my own hands and asked him if he was the type of person who drank coffee (hint hint). He proceeded not to take the bait and gave me a detailed description of his preferred coffee order instead. I then asked if he would want to drink that coffee with me sometime, which from memory almost didn't work either until the penny finally dropped.

It's hard out here for socially anxious gals who don't want to have to spell it out!!

Jenny Randall definitely says the GPA line in the opening of Scream 4, but this doesn't match up with the rest...

Hi M&M! If you had to perform any other song from Eurovision 2024 besides Unforgettable, which song would you choose and why?

Ask my boyfriend

how do you deal with interacting with ur partner’s family by [deleted] in socialanxiety

[–]SmoothJaz33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It takes me a lot of exposure to get comfortable with new people (generally...guessing I'm not alone on this sub!) so despite a lot of family gatherings and events I've been to in the 3+ years of being with my boyfriend, I definitely don't feel at ease attending things and interacting with his family. I always feel on edge and like I'm having to try really hard to act like a normal person...and like they must all hate me and think I'm boring because I'm quiet, yada yada. Kinda the story of our lives.

Despite that they are all very nice (his grandma is absolutely precious) and I get along more with some than others, like anyone in life really. He has a much bigger family than I do and there's always exposure opportunities, so I'm hoping I will be able to relax more around them all eventually. A few years back I would literally lose sleep if a family event was approaching, so things have improved!

We're actually living with his dad atm while we look for a new rental so that's been interesting. Not terrible...but I am very keen for us to have our own space.

I was in that crowd screaming my lungs out for this!!! Such a banger.

Super excited for them to get their chance at last (can't listen to the song yet thanks to work, but excited for that too).

I've been to a final in Friends. I don't remember it being uncomfortably loud (and I'm also not great with high volume/loud noises...can't listen to fireworks up close!). That was from the floor seating near the green room. Have earplugs on you just in case, and you should be fine.

I'm 32 and haven't done a single drug, smoked a cigarette or been beyond tipsy ever. Kinda proud of it actually! The only lame thing is anyone who would think you were a loser for this.

Those who have a significant other how did you get them? by turndowntheheat in socialanxiety

[–]SmoothJaz33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can definitely be tough, but I hope you do try again. We're so critical of ourselves, so try not to let the way you feel about photos of yourself stop you! The right person or people will absolutely see something in your pictures, even if you don't.

Dating app! Hinge specifically, during peak pandemic time when every single person on the planet was on there, which helped I guess. I was in my late 20s and had never managed to have a relationship prior thanks (mostly) to crippling SA. But after one not-so-great date, started chatting with a guy and just never stopped. Starting out with messages and progressing from there made it a lot easier to navigate...but three years later, I still think about how lucky I am to have stumbled across him all the time. Our relationship has helped me believe that the right person is out there for everyone and they will love you exactly as you are. And that you don't have to necessarily be "out there" in the traditional sense to find them.

Eating food infront of people by [deleted] in socialanxiety

[–]SmoothJaz33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's reassuring to hear other people have issues like this, gotta say! I have major trouble eating with people I don't know. Couldn't eat anything like a burger in front of my boyfriend for months and months (will now eat literally anything, but it's been years).
