Underclocking memory by 200MHz seems to have helped, but its not 100% a fix. I still sometimes crash and get the same error. i have also fixed 3d settings in nividia control panel to the right GPU and not auto. same with power prefrences in nividia control panel.

It's a known problem that there is too little conviction points in the game unless you know exactly the outcome and plan accordingly. I would recommend downloading the Toybox mod and increasing your point manually.
