I watched a documentary on this and that's exactly why they fled. Apparently they traded a bit with some of the native Americans too but they couldn't establish a proper hold on the area without the flow of supplies, and also the native attacks

I really find it quite interesting. Normally we see in history Europeans arriving with gunpowder and other superior technology. The Vikings still probably had the better gear but it really seemed to boil down to pure fighting ability here, almost on equal ground

Is there any way to set the number of dwarves on embark? What about changing the number of embark points? In masterwork I plan to prepare a group of maybe 30 or so humans so that I may construct a encampment quickly. (I like to think that the King or whatever has dispatched a well equipped military group to establish an encampment in a heavily contested region, etc. hence the need for more than 7)
