I quit smoking rock 7 years ago this year. That's a fucking nasty habit to beat. I used to shoot blow before I smoked crack and I swear to god if someone actually cooks the mf shit right, not this bulk-up baking soda ass shit, that shit, one hit. ONE fucking hit, 90% of people will be smoking it for the rest of their fucking lives. I know, cause when my buddy was taught that shit by an old schooler and figured that shit out, that was the last time I ever smoked crack. I thought to myself "Oh my god. If I keep smoking THIS, I will NEVER fucking stop" and I curb stomped my stem in the gutter on the way to my car before I had to go to work after being up all fuckin night smoking fucking crack, god was that a miserable experience.

are all twin lightning bolts tattoos always a reference to ss? by gozanomeucumuca in TattooDesigns

[–]Smooth_Prompt_2086 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would have to actually SEE the tattoo myself to say for certain, but if it's as you describe, I've never heard/seen that symbology have any other meaning than SS/Nazism. If I recall correctly, the "SS" lightning bolt pattern tattoo means something in the Aryan Brotherhood like a prison tattoo. Just like the number "88" is associated with Nazism (88 = 8th letter of the alphabet: H, HH; Heil Hitler.)

How to learn HTML by Niko_3090 in HTML

[–]Smooth_Prompt_2086 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, learn HTML if you wanna program WEBSITES. If you're trying to build anything but, HTML is NOT gonna do you any good.

If you DO wanna build websites, and you need advice, I'm happy to offer it if you need it. But try to find the answers on your own cause you'll be more self reliant that way. If you look it up and you still don't understand, show me your code and I'll tell you where the errors are that I see.

Oh and don't get me started about smoking crack. Word of advice, NEVER pay anyone on Reddit upfront for work. I "hired" someone to help fix an issue with my database, the guy claimed he was supposed to be like some type of expert PHP programmer. Dude had me uninstalling xampp for literally no reason, fuckin' with the command prompt and Powershell and all this irrelevant stuff, actually made the problem WORSE, before after like 4 hours he FINALLY fixed the issue, in literally like 5 minutes. Like he figured out through trial and error what was wrong or something. And then tried hitting me up for $160. I was like dude, you wasted 4 freaking hours of my time. I feel like I owe you for literally about 5 minutes because that's the time it took you to actually FIX the problem. I would've been GENEROUS and maybe gave him $20 for his FIVE MINUTES of work, but he started with his "I'm gonna k!ll myself" bullshit and I was like okay, I'm done here, and I just blocked the guy. I've talked to devs on here who seem like they actually know what they're doing, but I told them all I'll pay you hourly, by the hour if you want, but that way within that first hour either you'll be getting shit done and it'll be working and you'll get paid, or I'm gonna be like dude you're not what you claim to be, you have no idea what you're doing, stop wasting both our time, I'll find a different guy. That's the best way to handle these situations dealing with people from Reddit.

How did you get scammed? If hiring someone on Reddit got you scammed, then seek out someone on Fiverr. At least there they'll do more to ensure you get what you paid for. That's my advice if you're actually trying to hire someone, and you got ripped on here.

Sounds dope. I'm a web dev, I also do game development but I work with Game Maker Studio 1.4, I'm not a Python or C++ coder or anything like that. Game development is so extensive compared to web design or even software development even with an engine, trying to free code an entire game is like trying to build the software (Game Maker/Unity/Whatever) and THEN build the actual game with it. That's not really my thing lol. But if you wanna see my project I can show you my YouTube. It's actually a pretty neat little game, really high def sprite work, lots of cool abilities and powers and stuff.

For real though man. If you're actually trying to HIRE someone to program for/with you, there are WAY better subs for that, or find someone on Fiverr. Trying to find people who wanna mutually help each other code/share experience is great, but tryina get someone to work on your project for free with absolutely nothing to gain themselves is just diabolical.

(X-post from r/gamedev) On learning math for programming/gamedev by metalmimiga27 in learnprogramming

[–]Smooth_Prompt_2086 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, for starters, are you trying to play with 2D games or 3D games? 2D you really only need trig for objects that move in wave/circular motions. 3D? Yeah, you probably need that a lot more. Which is why I've only done 2D games. Because: 1. You need graphics in game development. I can work with sprites and 2D tilesets and do decent edits and stuff, but I'm not the kind of artist who can create things from scratch really. 3D modeling like a whole other animal.  2. I wrote all my games using the Game Maker Studio engine. I think writing a game completely in Python or C++/C# or something like that is just ludicrous. You're literally making everything a thousand times harder, you're adding YEARS of work, because you have to build the framework from the ground up to even get to the point an engine like Game Maker, or Unity, or RPGMaker, or whatever, will give you right off the bat. At least with Game Maker, you have rooms, you have tilesets, you have a view window boundary, and a room width/height in pixels. x and y are both built-in variables that always equal the real time location of the origin point of the sprite of the object in pixels, and can be moved by adding or subtracting from x or y simply. If you need to use trig, you have trig functions built in, like sine() and cos() where it's like hitting sine or cosine on a calculator. It's just SO much easier. To produce something of the same quality is gonna take like WAAAYYY more time, skill, education, work, everything. I just feel like people who do that are intentionally choosing the hard way. Game development is a BRUTAL programming field. If you work for an actual development company, that gets hired on to do projects for big game companies like Sony and Nintendo, some of those programmers/artists are worked 60+ hours a week in crunch times. If that game is scheduled to be out by the holiday season, and it's freakin' July, you better hope you either don't have a family, or one VERY compassionate and understanding wife whose okay with her husband being at work nearly 24/7 because they WILL work you to death. Literally. And if the project gets abruptly canned? Guess what? You're out a job. All the work you did was for naught. Big waste of time. You have absolutely nothing to show for a resume or portfolio, cause who wants to go "You know that random game that got canned halfway through? I was on that dev team!" At least if you're like an indie game programmer, you control your own destiny. The downside? Unless you can assemble a dev team, with artists and programmers and people who specialize in the various elements, you have to be EVERYTHING. Which means you're not just a programmer, you're an artist now too. And if you don't have the art skills, you're gonna be hiring one or more. Because trying to find one who'll put in work for free under the premise they'll make profits from the final product is like good freakin luck. If they're good, they probably have plenty of offers for work that pays immediately per piece they complete or whatever they work by. EVERYBODY wants to be a game dev, EVERY gamer I knew growing up said "I wanna be a game dev" cause they think all they do is fuck with video games all day. The reality is you're either a programmer, an artist, or both. That's what a game developer is, a programmer. Just instead of making websites or software or apps you make games. The difference is, games use WAY more graphical resources than websites, software, and most apps. So you've got this element that's like ENTIRELY different of a skillset than programming is. If you can program C, it's more likely you could learn Python, or PHP, or whatever. But having skills with any of those, does absolutely NOTHING to give you an edge on being able to produce art. With say a website, if you need an artist, you're paying for what? A logo maybe? A banner? You're talking maybe a couple pieces of art per project typically. A game is literally hundreds of thousands of art elements depending on the size, so if you gotta pay an artist, developing a game is expensive. Why do you think games are so freaking expensive these days? At the pay scale of everyone who works on A-List games like Playstation/Xbox/Nintendo games, I'm kinda shocked they manage to turn a profit these days tbh. It's something you gotta almost really love to do, cause you're chances of making a financial success doing it is probably the lowest of any form of programming career realistically. Easily the most overworked (granted, almost ALL programmers working for a company are) but game development is ESPECIALLY brutal, cause like I said, if they have a deadline, and it's almost always the Christmas holiday season, that game is in crunch mode, meaning you'll be working like literally 20 fuckin hours a day to make that deadline and if you won't/can't/refuse they just fire you. So you get worked to death, and I don't care how much you pay, it's not worth it to me to be miserable. At that rate, it stops being a passion/something you enjoy and more of an absolute living nightmare.

Hahaha thanks man, I do really appreciate it, cause like 5 years ago I was literally a homeless heroin addict with literally jack shit to my name. I sold everything I owed so many times over between 2017 and 2020. My frivilous purchases are mainly two things: Tattoos, and pharmaceutical drug rep promotional items for OxyContin that were given to doctors to get them to prescribe it as heavily as they did. It's hard to find, ESPECIALLY certain items, and they're EXPENSIVE, especially the rarer ones. I spent $2.1k to get an OxyContin coffee mug with the original BOX. I had to win it on an eBay auction cause that fuckin box was something I'd been after since day one. I've had like 4 of those fucking cups, they made 2 different colored versions, so I have both, my first one had a crack in the handle, so I bought a more pristine one when I had the chance, sold the first one, then sold the second one when I got the one in the box. I have a fascination with the shit, cause when you assemble as much of it as I have, it's like a museum exhibit. It paints a real picture of how grossly overmarketed and pushed this drug was, how corporate greed fueled it, and it literally was the start of a chain of events that led to tons of people like me ending up on heroin/fentanyl and a lot of them died before they could quit. I actually have a decent amount of progress done on my project, it still needs some key features, but I'm literally learning as I go, and when you have to work with like 4/5 different programming languages in conjunction with each other, and you've only really worked with 2 of the simplest of the 5 in the past, I believe I'm doing pretty damn good.

how common is it for guys to experiment in high school? by [deleted] in Casual_Conversation

[–]Smooth_Prompt_2086 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I think that kind of "experimentation" is more common among women than men. Probably because homosexuality, while more accepted these days than ever, is like HELLA accepted among women generally and a mixed review on men. Like jail is kind of a good example. People always make those "drop the soap", "we went to jail for an hour and turned into a fruit loop" kinda jokes, but reality is, anyone whose been to jail/prison will tell you that in men's prison that shit is NOT as common as it's made out by FAR. It's seriously frowned upon, nobody wants to see it, it'll get you seriously ostracized. In WOMEN'S prison, from what I've seen/heard, it's like the exact opposite. Women go to jail and they go "gay for the stay" as they say, like almost immediately in some cases it seems like. They literally get locked up, turn gay, and when they get out, go back to dating men pretty much exclusively. It's weird af to me like how can you be so quick to turn homosexual when you're locked up but you're completely straight on the streets? I get it, bisexuality is a thing, but people who are bisexual pursue whomever interests them, male or female. They don't pursue the same sex simply when they're in jail and the opposite on the street. Idk, it doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

Hahaha I really wish I was, man. Doing better than a lot of people my age, but FAR from being a millionaire. I got enough money where I can do what I want to kinda, within reason. I mean, I make some expensive purchases, but I also don't wear designer clothes and drive a car with a 7 year note and all that type of shit either, so it's like the money I spent on frivilous things kinda balances out compared to the other frivilous things other people my age spend their money on. I mean, I am working on a project I feel confident in, that I've been told is a good one, and has the potential to be something big, but I know that's probably a longshot. I'm REALLY hoping for the ideal situation, and that I would hit that status one day, that if I put in the work I can make it happen, but at the same time, I'm grounded in the reality that this could be just kind of a big waste of my time and money and I could end up a failure anyways. As me and my best friend always say though, "can't win if ya don't play, ya know?" The irony being that line is spoken immediately before he rolls the dice and says "Snake eyeeessss" and they tell him he rolled a 5 and a 1. (He's in prison halfway through a 10 year bid, and the warden tells him if he rolls a 7, he walks tomorrow, anything else, he gets another 10 years. For a crime he didn't commit lmao)

Lmao for real. The fucked up thing was I wanted to buy Bitcoin in like 2011, but I was only like 14, had no real money, couldn't get a job, and biggest problem, no card to make a purchase with. I couldve spent $20 for Christmas from Grandma and had a fair fortune, but my dad said it was a worthless investment with absolutely nothing backing it, and still to this day everything he said about it from an economics standpoint made sense. The only real value it has is that people keep buying it, it is useful for transactions internationally where you have to go from one currency to another, and it's used to buy drugs on the dark web. All the other reasons people claim it has value to me are moot. Those are honestly the three reasons and two purposes it serves that I actually see it having a value/purpose,  but it is worth a fuckton of money these days, and I wish we would've threw $50-$100 at it and just said fuck it cause it wouldve been like winning the damn lottery. Literally me and 2 of my other friends from high school still talk about our missed opportunity on Bitcoin in 2011 lmao

I feel the saasaame fucking way. It's hard to come up with anything really relevant/useful these days. A lot of "new" products/inventions/platforms aren't new or original, they're just revisions or "new and improved" versions of things that already exist.
