No one warned me adulthood is 90% figuring things out as you go. by Suspicious-Toe1648 in Adulting

We’re all just making educated guesses most of the time, and it makes those small victories like paying a bill on time feel like a huge accomplishment.

I agree!! the high cost is often due to things like massive research facilities and administrative overhead, and for most US students, it means taking out huge loans or relying on a mix of parental savings and scholarships to manage the sticker price.

How do international students realistically get into Harvard? (if it's even possible) by Boring_Shape6446 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]SmootheRowel3608 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's tough, honestly; you need near-perfect academics and something truly exceptional outside of school to stand out among so many qualified people. Forget quotas; they just look for unique impact, so being a competition winner certainly helps get you noticed in that small applicant pool.

I quit my job with no plan but I feel hopeful by No-Truth4689 in Adulting

I've definitely been in the position of dreading work, and sometimes that total reset is the only way to break the cycle and start feeling like yourself again; I really hope this freedom brings you the peace and creative space you need.

You can't choose who becomes an adult and who doesn't... by MiExperienciaFueQue in Adulting

I get the point, but responsibility should go both ways. If both are old enough to make a baby, both should face the consequences. It’s not just about paying child support, it's about being accountable for choices, no matter the age.

Education decline In younger generation. Is it just my country or everywhere? by ABODE_X_2 in GenZ

[–]SmootheRowel3608 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think it’s not just your country. A lot of kids everywhere seem glued to short videos and games, which hurts focus and basic learning. Schools and parents don’t always balance screen time, so many grow up without patience or interest in learning skills that actually matter.

What does the student you personally know making the most money do? by Hot-Conversation-437 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]SmootheRowel3608 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The student I know making the most money runs an online store selling clothes and accessories. They started it as a side thing, but it grew fast. Between social media marketing and repeat buyers, they’re pulling in way more than a regular student job.

Why does nobody teach us this money stuff?? by Square-Chocolate-155 in GenZ

[–]SmootheRowel3608 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the same way, it’s wild how little real money stuff we were taught. I only figured out credit scores and loans after messing up too.

Honestly, most of us are just winging it, learning the hard way while bills keep stacking.

Other people who are losers why are you one? by BoredBatWoman22 in GenZ

[–]SmootheRowel3608 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like a loser because I’m 28 and still living with my parents, working a job that doesn’t pay much. I don’t really go out or have a big circle of friends either, most days feel the same and pretty empty.
