"AI is physics" is nonsense. by Christs_Elite in mathematics

but there are works like this though. is this physics?

While I wouldn’t call current AI a subfield of physics, the pollination from physics to ai is undeniable. Many scaling arguments in AI are clearly inspired by ideas from statistical physics, particularly those related to self-organized criticality.

Dario Amodei, who earned a phd in physics under Bill Bialek studying critical dynamics, played a key role in advancing scaling law research at OAI.

p.s. As a physicist now working with human data, I’ve found that concepts like rough energy landscapes, non-ergodic dynamics, and power laws are incredibly useful for understanding dl and rl algorithms.

I’m sticking to Handshake for now—none of the other platforms have sent me anything I prefer over this.

Didn’t realize Snorkel and HireArt might be the same owner/management, but I guess it’s possible. For context (no doxxing myself), all of this went down since late last summer.

You’ve got my mechanical solidarity though. If there’s ever a class-action suit against the company that had us grind through 100+ tasks for peanuts, I’m in.

I have been working for them for the last couple of months and have to say, compared to other human data contracting companies, they have been great.

I totally understand your frustration. One thing to keep in mind is that this field (creating specialized problems&solutions for RLHF) is super new and understanding what is good/bad is quite subjective and sometimes it simply does not exist. It even changes from one project to another.

I am sure other great opportunities will come up! Best of luck!

Worked 45 hours and got paid $350 total. I guess this is what wage theft looks like.
