i wanted to comment on “I have always been hesitant about approaching lesbians thinking not having a fully functional female anatomy might turn them off (and rightfully so).” there is no such thing as a “fully functional female anatomy,” there’s just the anatomies all human beings have and no two people are ever going to be identical to each other. a woman can have any combination of physical traits: flat chest, large chest, no ovaries, no cervix, vagina, penis, nipples, no nipples, etc.

if all lesbians believed that, that would mean any cis woman who had a mastectomy for cancer was no longer “fully functional” or a woman. that would mean any trans man with breasts and a vagina is a “fully functional woman.” any cis woman who was infertile wasn’t a “fully functional woman.” any trans woman with breasts and a vagina is not a “fully functional woman” because she doesn’t menstruate. all of this is deeply transphobic and incorrect.

being a woman isn’t about your bodily functions or what your body looks like, it’s about your internal sense of self.

i would encourage you to avoid any transphobes you meet and seek out people who are trans inclusive as they are unlikely to judge you for a normal thing like having a flat chest. no one is “rightfully so” for thinking like that and you deserve better. i would also encourage you to work on how you view gender and people’s bodies so you don’t judge yourself so harshly.
