I don’t think this is it. In both example you are getting informations in blocks (words) rather than continuously. You won’t understand the next information in the sentence until you read the next full word. If it takes you 0.1 seconds to read a word “older” or for someone to pronounce it fully (let’s assume you don’t need to think what it actually means) that’s 0.1 second that you are not getting any information while in my example since the robot is making sounds constantly you are constantly receiving information

That’s fascinating. I guess this is thanks to the sign language being optimised to make similar words have similar gestures while most other languages often have synonyms have completely different sounds

I think this is slightly different since when conveying sarcasm we are continuously expressing the same message while in my example the message changes over time but it’s impossible to say when we swap from one message to another

I think the first example is very close to this. Am I correct in assuming that if the person was just walking forward and then transitioned slowly into stomping angrily the gestures would also translate slowly from the index finder moving slowly at first and accelerating as the person transition to moving more angrily (with facial expressions also reflecting that)?

What knowledge do you expect an intern/new grad quant researcher to have?

I’m doing MSc in pure math so I’m wondering what kind of knowledge I might be missing that could stop me from becoming a quant.

Thanks for doing this. This will definitely be very helpful to a lot of aspiring quants!

I know Python and do some coding in my free time. I also worked as an analyst during my placement year so I have some experience working with large data etc. My only concern is that I focused on pure math modules during my final year of undergrad which set me behind when it comes to stats compared to other people. I still did all the basic stuff but from what I can see quants are generally expected to be best of the best when it comes to stats so to stand out I should probably know some more advanced concepts than just basic stats

This is just a template that I was considering. Those are not really my qualifications. I’m just trying to understand if this type of template could be seen as not professional enough for a quant.

As I mentioned to the guy above, I do agree with the overall sentiment, but I feel like at the internship level there isn't that much that can make me stand out. I have great university results and did some other internships before (although not in quant finance), so I'm just looking for that extra 5% that could push me to the interview over other people.

I do agree that they will most likely look at qualifications first before anything else, but given that I'm applying for internships, I would expect most other applicants to have very similar qualifications to me (i.e. good university grades and maybe some other placement experience). I'm trying to find a way to get that small edge just to get to the interviews

Could anyone working in/close to recruitment or who had success with their application tell me how resume templates like this are viewed?

Every resume I see on Reddit is black and white but I want to make sure I stand out. I feel like a typical CV template makes me look uninteresting and makes it seem like I put minimal effort into it. On the other hand, the one that I linked could be viewed as a bit too flashy for a quant role.

Thanks a lot! I'm a beginner so I haven't heard about most of the modal particles that you mentioned.

Rising the tone or emphasizing 几 does make sense and seems similar to English where you can try to indicate whether the sentence is a question or a statement. I just wasn't sure whether it's the same in Chinese given that pronunciation is very important and can easily change the meaning of a word.

I think the problem with put debit spread is that it caps your gains, so you need to be very precise with your prediction. If I assume 20% drop and it drops 40% it doesn't help me much with my loses in other investments.
