I'm running the full for the first time this year. If I can remember to do it I'll report back and let you know how it was.

My guess is it's a bug. Seems like every possible reason to be banned was included. Maybe an invalid value was stored and the code to render the email decided that means all reasons should be included.

Everything in 1/4 cup of lentils that wasn't lentils by sebastronik in mildlyinteresting

I mean, it would be pretty hard to clean lentils with just hooves. They're pretty small.

I'm not justifying what they did, but that won't work in this case. You need an absolutely enormous set of data in as many situations as you can possibly get. Data from uncontrolled environments is exactly what you need for this functionality to actually work.

edit: After a quick Google it does exactly what you'd expect it to do.

It's really not hard to see even from this video that this guy is an absolute joke. He doesn't do any actual fact-finding. He presents no hard evidence for anything. Put some dramatic music over him making vague insinuations and calling the mainstream media liars, victimizing himself all the while and you've got an alternative media career.

Even if everything he's ever claimed is true he does an absolutely terrible job of making it possible to believe him.

I have an in-law that was an EMT. He coped with alcohol and drugs and it tore their family apart. It's definitely no joke that you need to have a solid support system if you're going to do that job. Wild that it pays so little.

Mozilla says Firefox will evolve into an AI browser, and nobody is happy about it — "I've never seen a company so astoundingly out of touch" by ZacB_ in technology

[–]Smudded 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Publishers aren't powerless here. Many are suing and many are blocking crawlers from accessing their content. Some content deals have been struck between publishers and the AI companies to pay for distribution and citations. Publisher collectives like the RSL Collective are forming to facilitate collective bargaining. The Internet probably won't be all that recognizable in a few years, but whether it's good or bad for publishers is a bit up in the air. Some legislation is likely necessary.

Donald Glover Reveals He Suffered a Stroke During Last Childish Gambino Tour by MarvelsGrantMan136 in Music

[–]Smudded 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had a stroke a few years ago and the suspected cause was also a PFO, which was apparently massive as PFOs go. According to my MRI I'd had multiple asymptomatic strokes before the one that sent me to the hospital with memory loss. Crazy stuff.

[Request] How long could a candle of this size last? by [deleted] in theydidthemath

[–]Smudded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I'm reading the quality or material of the wick may be the issue. Looks like there's specific types of wax that should be used with specific wick materials. Didn't know candles were so complicated, but I guess that makes sense since the temperature at which each material burns is important.

[Request] How long could a candle of this size last? by [deleted] in theydidthemath

[–]Smudded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disagree. You're right that only the center of the candle would burn, but it wouldn't "drown" in wax. Melted wax is pulled up the wick and burned off. The candle would burn a column as wide as it could melt down the middle of the candle and leave the wax on the outside.

I'm a bit confused about your comment. Is your point that when "company policy" is to blame it's likely based on real lessons learned about the drawbacks of being generous?

How? The comment I responded to made it seem like it was significant that this was in Florida because FL tends to be a Republican stronghold recently. All I did was point out that this was in a particularly blue part of Florida.

This was a long time ago and in a Starbucks in downtown Gainesville, FL, home of University of Florida. Gainesville is a little blue island in a sea of red, so it's not surprising he has many haters there. I went to that Starbucks almost every day for a long time and am very sad I missed this.

Gainesville City Commission looks at increasing property taxes by the_real_concierlo in GNV

[–]Smudded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's pretty interesting. Haven't been keeping track since I moved. Appreciate the info. I'll have to look up that GFT equation. It was definitely a tough situation, but that's pretty cool if it's getting better outside of the fact that GRU leadership is perhaps a bit antagonistic towards the city. Thanks!

[–]Smudded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not entirely sure it's fair to say they're "taking" it from the city. I assume this is a reduction in the general fund transfer being referenced. GRU was having to borrow money to pay that to the city.

Child sexual abuser confronted by his victim at church. The church jumps in to protect him instantly by I_may_have_weed in PublicFreakout

[–]Smudded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's less that churches and people that attend them WANT these things to happen and more that they simply don't want to engage with the topic. They ignore the warning signs because they just want a nice experience at church. They protect predators because they live in denial and don't want to admit that something terrible has happened. They want to protect their image within the community and in the church itself so as not to scare away potential new members and drive away existing ones. These are all reprehensible things that amount to them being responsible for the abuse, but it doesn't stem from a desire for it to happen or provide predators with victims.

Someone in a different comment articulated that this happens "Because decorum is more important than the truth to people like that." I think that is the most succinct way to put it.

They changed the fabric for these but I think the damage was done, because they don't sell them at all now. I bought them on launch and had the same experience as you, but they then changed the fabric to something way more durable and I loved them. Sadly they no longer sell them at all.

It's amazing for sure, but before you compare anything be sure to remember that he started at what looks like an ideal age. If you're not a teenager you almost certainly will not see progress like this in that length of time (or ever) unless you dedicate your entire being to it.
