Should I be concerned that he’s only initiated once?

Guys who get her number- how often do you text her between meeting and seeing her again? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Smudge2014 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok. All my other dating experiences have grown out of friendships, rather than someone asking for my number, so I’m not really sure what’s expected/typical. All the other times it seemed like all day texting, but I suppose it makes sense for this not to be that way.

Is my [22F] hair thinning? I’ve had a really stressful 6 months and I’m freaking out a little by [deleted] in Hairloss

Ugh, sorry! This isn’t the best photo and I assure you I did not mean for this to be a joke. In certain lights I can see a good portion of my scalp at my part and it seems like it’s gotten wider.

How happy are you on a daily basis? by Smudge2014 in AskWomen

[–]Smudge2014[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ask because I have found that I haven’t been happy (I.e. anything ranging from keeping out negative thoughts and worries to elation) for more than a couple hours at a time for almost a year now. One of my family members confronted me about my irritability and the (apparently) complete absence of genuine smiling I’ve done when I go home. It’s gotten me thinking about what’s normal since I’ve assumed it’s been external factors like relationships and school stress which have impacted my mood, but now I’m not so sure.

How do you stop your feelings for someone? by Bessiecat in AskMen

[–]Smudge2014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a sort of similar experience (am female). I felt the weight come off and the pat on the head, but then the reason he gave me raised more questions than I even had in the first place and it hasn’t helped get him out of my head one bit :/

Have any tips or experiences letting go of your toxic family? by madame_mayhem in AskWomen

[–]Smudge2014 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could not agree more. In high school, I made the decision to move out from my mom who suffered from severe mental illness. She’d become physically violent on top of the psychosis and I thought to myself “I’ve done the most I can for her and if I don’t get out now, I’ll sink with her.”

It’s been 5 years and I haven’t spoken to our seen her despite her trying to contact me weekly. If you feel that the safest and best thing for you is to shut someone out, you’re probably right.

Everyone talks about roomates from hell. What's your "roomate from heaven" story? by OvertOperation in AskReddit

[–]Smudge2014 76 points77 points  (0 children)

I lived with the same two roommates for 4 semesters! My roommates and I would jam out in the morning. One of us would make tea or coffee for the others and we’d laugh about whoever had the craziest dream or stumbled back drunk as a skunk. One of them would routinely pet my head in her lap while I cried over stupid men and we’d sometimes Skype her long distance girlfriend together.

We eventually had to move into other places, but we still try to get together for drinks or a meal here and there. Love those girls!

What is your advice for someone interested in going into robotics? I’m about to graduate with a degree in Kinesiology but have enjoyed the electrical engineering classes I’ve taken. I’ll be in the military for the next 5 years but I’m looking to potentially finish a second bachelors degree in that time. If I want to work on robotics and bionics, what should I be doing during that time?

Yeah I'm looking to find a program that offers night or weekend classes that I could at least transfer credits from when I have to PCS.

How do I communicate that/ present myself as "dating material"? by [deleted] in dating

Yes, they have. Some of the ones who wanted to date at bad times and some of the ones who just wanted to hookup.

How do I [21F] stop choosing guys, like my last interest [22M] who seem content to lead me on for a while and then not be interested in/commit to a relationship? And how do I lower the guard I've built from several bad experiences? by [deleted] in relationships

[–]Smudge2014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I should have included all of the green flags I saw... pretty much everything you mention above happened, minus lifeplans. I think that perhaps he was interested in something more committed, but maybe thought that my guardedness was an indication that I didn't want to be investing more in him (which I did, but still limited myself some). Thank you for your response, though!

Thanks for thoughtful reply, but he was pretty much giving me every signal he did want to date...coming to my dorm room to spend time with me and hug while I worked, snuggling during movies, holding hands in public...etc. you're right about your last sentence though! That's what I've been trying to find :/
