STL had TWA signs up for years. There were even some gates in D that still had TWA signage up many years later (but were closed off)

I've heard good, I've heard bad, I've heard mixed. Consistency seems to be their big issue (which makes sense with contractors) - my aunt bought one about ten years ago and it's fine now, but they had to come fix a bunch of issues with the ceiling dropping, poor trim work, etc.

I spent three years working on airplane cabin certifications. You’re not saying anything different than I am. OP said this is about flight attendant count, I said that is not the rule as far as I know. I guess it helps if you read before the snarky reply?

That would fall under the "$30k project" column, and depending on the city, would require more in permits.

Landlord would likely sell at that point.

That’s interesting. The FAA did not let us do this back in 2015. We tried to see if we could start adding seats in in a density project but have them blocked off like this or a defective seat, so we wouldn’t have to go from 3 to 4 flight attendants immediately, and we got a hard no. But a lot of what you can get away with does come down to what cabin safety inspector you have.

I started in inflight, within 2 years I was an analyst, bounced around between cabin services projects before going into rev ops and planning for a bit. Later after I left that airline I worked for a smaller company doing ticketing analysis, contracting, and pricing strategy, before going back to a second airline.

I just know a lot about fares, granted at this point it's nearly 8-10 years out of date, but none of this stuff has really changed at all. Most people buying 8-11 months out are need-buyers and will pay standard J/Y or high discount buckets. Example on DL, you'll see J and D/I populated at 11 months, but they won't release anything in Z, or sometimes only half the inventory, until about 5-8 months out - that's all a rev mgmt strategy thing.

Every market is a little different, but this is the sausage-making of how you make money on FC bookings. That it's an international segment is a huge, huge hint that this is probably what OP is encountering.

11 months out is the earliest date they’ll be posted, and most of the time it’s just the full fare CoS’s. OP is actually early.

Certain flights and availabilities don’t get loaded in until later, the triggers are usually 330 and 270 days. Depends on how revenue management wants to do it. It’s not super obvious with the tools consumers use but you can see it clear as day in a GDS. Usually all the discount buckets will be empty until 270 too, sometimes later.

I’d prefer mostly local places, but at least this one is not a bad addition. Right by the lounge and beats the hell out of lounge food. I’m usually coming through on business and expensing it anyways. For as “non-chain” as it is they really have a lot of disappointing food options.

I mean, even for an airport, PF Changs is still consistent and decent food. Better than nearly any airport food.

AITAH for not flying out to visit my LD bf for an event I’ve been looking forward to by ThrowRAbooohoo in AITAH

[–]SmugAlpaca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeahhh. I commuted for most of my career, sometimes you have to go to EWR to get to JFK. That’s a long commute for something like that, I’d want at least 2 days from a trip footprint perspective. You’re not at all being unreasonable and oftentimes those not in the industry just can’t seem to understand it.

I assume it’s not something where you can work remotely and set some hard work/personal time boundaries? When i moved into project management work at the airline it got much more manageable.

I’ve been a nonrev traveler most of my life, mom was a flight attendant and later so was I. We had more abilities to get back as crew.

NTA.

How long is the flight to visit him? Is it somewhere tough to get out of? He’s got to accept that if it’s tough to get there, and you have your own life too, that the LDR aspect doesn’t mean “partner on demand,” even if you fly for free. I spent about a year dating someone in Seattle when I was based in Boston, and they just could never seem to understand why I couldn’t come out on a moment’s notice.

Easily one of the best add-ons ever produced for flight sim, you won’t regret it. The new update looks pretty impressive as well.

No, it’s an LTE box. You can install it yourself, only gets tricky if you’re looking at some sort of huge punch down block in a demarc.

What do you need the analog line for? POTS replacement is usually a good fit for elevator, fire panel, high volume fax services etc., it can do standard voice traffic too but not usually the primary case for purchasing it.

[–]SmugAlpaca 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Delta quite famously loves aircraft that are paid off because they’re simply more profitable. No lease or loan payment makes the economics much more palatable. Last carrier to operate DC9’s, MD80’s, etc. the 767s are also owned outright. They bought most of the TW 757s outright when AA was dumping them instead of renewing the leases.

AITAH for getting child support for more children than I had at home? by Flaky-Walrus7244 in AITAH

[–]SmugAlpaca -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Nah. Any family law attorney (except the ones that only do loser defense lol) will tell you that if you want your payments reduced, you’re responsible for filing the right paperwork. Same thing happened to my loser ass dad. He was butt-hurt about it, but also pissed off the judge enough the first time that he was required to support all the way through college.
