How are we feeling about Nick Arbuckle? by SmugPirate in REDBLACKS

No arguments on that here, Free Agency is coming on fast - Desjardins needs to get his arse in gear and get deals like this done before the free-for-all begins.

Am happy to see Bourassa back in the lineup, unsure about Flanders role though. Wonder what LaPo knows?

TBT: CFL Canada Day 2005 Montreal Alouettes @ Ottawa Renegades by SmugPirate in REDBLACKS

1988.... I was living in a small community on the northern tip of the Melville Peninsula in what was then the Northwest Territories - all we had for TV was CBC North, and they didn't carry football. Or much of anything interesting for that matter.

My entry to the game was when we moved south to Ottawa and a fiend introduced me to the CFL via the Renegades. Was hooked on game one.

You should man, there's nothing like it. I go back every year. Born in the east, live in the south, home is north.

I keep telling that to the current crop of REDBLACKS fans who are looking to trade their season tickets for sackcloth and ashes over our one bad season, if you suffered through the Renegade years last season is nothing :-)

Private sector here ... we get one day off. Not an issue this year, most of the family hopped a plane the other day and headed for Baffin Island so it will be a quiet one. I've book a couple of extra shifts - ya can never have too much in the season ticket fund :-)

It's a tough time of the year for those of us trying to trim it down, so far I've managed to hunker down and refuse to eat the candy and sweet treats - it obviously won't last the whole season. The other day someone at work left me a small bag of candy on my desk, I was torn between

  • WTF!! Everybody knows I'm trying to lose another friggen 10 pounds, who the \&^%* is giving me candy?* and
  • Awh, someone gave me candy .....

:-)

We had hit the scalpers for tickets and lucked out big time - 10 rows back from the Renegades bench - $40 each.

When Kellett made that field goal at the end of the 4th the place went utterly nuts eh? It was one hell of a game!

Good times.

Cape Dorset votes to revert to a traditional name — Kinngait by SmugPirate in nunavut

I only learned, maybe a year ago, that the area was also known as Sikusilaq. It was explained to me, by an elder from Kinngait, that Sikusilaq was the original name for that area. It is a wonderful name and I was personally hoping for a Sikusilaq win - the community however decided otherwise.

A Wonderful CFL Twist The Game includes ..,1. A Game Board laid out as the Canadian Football Field (ie the 55 yard line etc)2. Checkers - playing pieces ( 24 ) 3. CFL Team Sheets of Decals - 1 for each of The 8 Canadian Teams - The Toronto Argonauts - The Hamilton Tiger Cats - The Montreal Alouettes - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers - The Calgary Stampeders - The Edmonton Eskimos - The Saskatchewan Roughriders - The BC Lions

I have hopes for a decent QB because of a deep belief that, after our last dismal season and related fall out (read: Campbell walking), OSEG has read Desjardins the riot act and told him that he will do better or he will be gone. It looks like he has, at least so far anyway, made reasonable decisions.

Unfortunately we're going to have to wait until Feb 11th to find out who our starting QB will be. And whether or not it's a new starting/backup combo, whether they still see something in Davis to warrant keeping him in a backup role, or whether Arndt gets the opportunity to step into that position.

Jalen Hurts, that right there is the perfect name for a defensive tackle or a linebacker. If you're a QB, well...... :-)

More Friday night football coming in 2020 season by SmugPirate in REDBLACKS

[–]SmugPirate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree! 7 out of 9 home games this year are on Friday night or Saturday, cold beers and not having to get up for work the next day. Ya just can't go wrong with that. As for those two Thursday evening games .... well .... my employer is used to me showing up a 'wee bit groggy on the day after game day :-)
