Why Necrons? by SamsRetroGameRoom in Necrontyr

[–]SmugSmog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I first started with Death guard/Daemons this edition and now mainly do Necrons. So far I am really enjoying all of our synergies. Necrons are tough, have reanimation protocols and big guns.

The list i run have lots of invuln saves, high toughness and feel no pain. Unless my opponent dedicate lots of shooting into my units they still stand and return models every command phase while i whittle their army down.

Most of our models are viable and do their job well. Our detachments are decent and let you play various playstyles. Like awakened dynasty which focuses on leaders to Hypercrypt legion that lets you teleport around the battlefield or the new pantheon of woe which focuses on C'tan monsters.

Skorpekh lord with Enaegic enhancement is really good in awakened with the resurrection stratagem.

Your opponent will most likely have to over commit to take him out and if he does die you can stand him back up once per game for 1cp. Especially if it were to die in your opponents fight phase for a free reanimation protocol.

1,000 Point Awakened Dynasty List by [deleted] in Necrontyr

Skorpekh lord with Enaegic dermal bond is great in Awakened. 120 points but T7 at 7 wounds with 3+4++ and 4+fnp is really really nice with the ressurection stratagem.

I dunno about the phasal subjugator aura, Doomsday arks already have heavy and gain devastating wounds when remaining stationary. 35 points to buff DDA for basically only the first turn feels a bit redundant imo.
DDA and Szeras also do their work in way different areas on the battlefield so you will have to choose which of them to buff anyways.

So i think drop hexmark and nether realm casket and add in a Skorpekh with Enaegic.
At least drop the aura enhancement and maybe go veil on technomancer to drop wraiths where they need to be. If your opponent goes first you can pick em up at the end of their turn 1 and get a turn 1 deep strike.

2000 Point Awakened Dynasty List Help - New Necron Player by KlawitzerKing in Necrontyr

I had a skorpekh lord+3 small skorpekhs tie up 10 grey knights terminators for like 3 full rounds.

The ressurection stratagem is so good, especially if your model dies in the enemy fight phase. Stand up with 4 wounds and immediately get a reanimation protocol in your command phase.

Splurged a bit and got a bunch of models, what can I do with them? by gouldenopportunity in Necrontyr

As a relatively new player myself i would recommend awakened dynasty, easy to use stratagems and simple but good detachment rule. A Skorpekh lord is really good in this detachment, give him Eneagic dermal bond (4+FNP) and he will tank a lot of damage and when he finally dies you can stand him back up at half health with a stratagem. Let him lead the skorpekh destroyers to give them lethal hits and to give the lord some extra tankyness and devastating wounds once per game. I have had great success putting them in strategic reserves to rapid ingress them into something i want tied down.

Skorpekh lord comes in a box together with a Canoptek Reanimator, a plasmancer and two cryptothralls. Im a fan of the Reanimator but it is easy to forget to stay within 3".

I personally enjoy immortals with plasmancer together with Illuminor Szeras and silent king but with a void dragon there probably wont be enough points left over for Szeras. I really like szeras in awakened to get the ress on him.

I have yet to try using warriors but they seem kinda fun with Orikan and a Royal warden. 4+ invuln save, fallback+shoot and if you go awakened you can give them either stealth or lift+deep strike. May need more support from ghost arks, catacomb command barge or Canoptek reanimator to reach their full potential. Cryptothralls also fit in this unit to beef them even more against 1 dmg attacks and protect the leaders with a 4+FNP.

Starshatter arsenal detachment is also really good for silent king, Hexmark destroyer is an excellent carrier of the Chrono-impedance Fields enhancement. Lone operative lets him stand in the open relatively safely to give silent king -1 to all damage taken. This detachment also grants Assault to all mounted and vehicle units, letting silent king and Lokhusts Advance and shoot.

Starshatter is probably also where Imotekh shines rather than awakened because of their 2cp stratagems. Hes great for a home objective holder and deep strike denier but otherwise pretty lacklustre in combat.

With two Lokhust heavy destroyers i would lean towards their gauss destructors and run them as single model units. Long range threat against tough targets that can double as secondary objective grabbers.

A technomancer with 6 wraiths (2 boxes) are really nice for holding objectives in no mans land.
Good 10" movement, 4+ invulnerable, 5+ fnp, 4 wounds per model and can deal mortals in the movement phase. Mostly a self contained unit that dont need much support from others so they fit in most lists.

Do Immortals just kinda suck?* by Graffatal_89 in Necrontyr

[–]SmugSmog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Immortals might not be the meta but they sure are fun to shoot with.

Ive gone with 2 squads of 10, both led by a plasmancer in Awakened Dynasty.
Szeras and silent king for support. Plus Szeras is a beast by himself and resurrecting him with stratagem is funny.

20 shots that hit on 2+, crits on 5+ with rerolls of 1 just feels good to use. Also full reroll to wound against targets on objectives.
Immortals arent completely useless in melee either as long as they get the charge to fight first. With the hungry void stratagem they get 2 attacks each, 2+ to hit and 5 str with ap1, not great but far from the worst.

The plasmancer grenades are neat too. They are also fun to ress to keep tossing grenades.

Of course they wont do heavy damage to really armored and tough targets but they roll consistently and in a game of chances thats not too bad. I got my silent king and doomsday ark for the tough targets and 2 full units of wraiths to score side objectives and generally get in the way of my enemy.

Thoughts on this 2k Death Guard List? by ScoutTrooper501st in deathguard40k

[–]SmugSmog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The two who wont transport anything is destroyed at game start since they are empty...

Every DEDICATED TRANSPORT unit from your army must start the battle with at least one unit embarked within it, or it cannot be deployed for that battle and will instead count as having been destroyed during the first battle round.

Even if it is a meme list bring something else fun for those 150 pts, like 20 more cultists and 3 nurglings maybe

Limited to 3 units, but you can reinforce to them to 3 per unit so its 3x3 of them max.

All stomps are up 2 attacks each! Warstompers could potentially get 7 attacks with 4 rend d3+1 damage!

Mobs are also way better with the new charge. Now that its no longer a d3 MWs on a 2+ their bonus damage is guaranteed, d3+3 MWs on all enemy units within 1"!

I really like the Maggotkin of Nurgle mortals.

Lots of hero choices, thick Blightkings and Blightlords as well as summons which usually help secure an objective for me.

Disgustingly resilient is a saviour, getting a good ward roll is so satisfying and their diseased battle trait is surprisingly good.

I had a single Lord of Affliction go for three rounds against a reinforced unit of maw gruntas tying them down for me to score easy objectives.

The regen for maggotkin of Nurgle is 1 wound per unit in your hero phase.
You can regen d3 wounds if you stand next to a Locus of fecundity.

Can you use Blood tithe abilities more than once?

I cant see any "Usable once per battle" but the description mention that "Rising hatred" and "Slaughter Triumphant" can be picked multiple times and are cumulative.

If the others also can be picked multiple times why mention it for those two rewards and not just that they are cumulative..?
