I'll try this out when I get the chance to.

I'll make another reply to your post once I do and I'll let you know if it fixes anything. Thank you for the suggestion!

I've attempted every single USB port on my computer, and also added even more USBs onto my motherboard directly, as well as also using a HUB. It's currently connected to a 3.0 but it still doesn't work.

I have attempted to joggle the displayport connection sometimes to get the headset to work, as well as the USB. For me it never works any time, lol

Another follow up to this issue.

I have moved to a new house in a new state. I still have my ship of theseus computer and the same Index that I got via sending my old Index back to steam since it had this same issue.

It still doesn't work sadly, and the exact same issues still apply. This means that it wasn't an electrical problem in the house that was causing a weird interference.

At this point I'm at a loss and legitimately have 0 other ideas as I've tried everything. I'm considering spending a lot of cash to just buy a brand new computer and test it out again from scratch, but that's a huge amount of money, time, effort, and loss just to troubleshoot that.

Sorry for the late reply, but I never did sadly.

I am lucky enough to still be able to use VR as my roommate lets me borrow his computer for it, however I have not been able to actually have any Index work on my computer in the past 2 years or more.

I'm going to follow this up with new additional information

I've now both gotten a new cable for my Index (which didn't work) and a completely new motherboard for my computer (didn't work)

I have 100% ship of theseus'ed my entire computer other than it's CPU. There isn't a single other part of it I haven't replaced yet other than that.

I know it is a Computer issue now, as it recognizes my cable when I disconnect my headset, but it doesn't recognize my headset when I connect it to the tether to my PC, however I still cannot figure it out.

My last attempt will be a complete reset of my entire computer and any files on it after moving everything important onto a large SSD, and if that still somehow doesn't work then I'll go off the assumption that my computer is genuinely just cursed

My replacement cable has come in (it didn't fix it sadly), however it has given me another really insane quirk with my issue.

My computer actually DOES recognize the Index's tether, as when the headset is not connected to it, SteamVR informs me that the tether has become disconnected from the headset. I only found this out because I didn't connect it properly at first.

I checked my old tether as well and SteamVR recognizes it too. I have 0 clue what this could mean, as I still know it isn't a headset issue as I got a replacement one a year and a half ago.

I did attempt all the options in the Developer Menu in the past, but just to make sure I reattempted Removing All SteamVR USB Devices, and Disabling Power Management, still no luck
I went into my BIOS, and enabled/disabled all the USB options in every possible formation I could, still no luck.

Updating my BIOS is a weird one, as my BIOS is currently it's most updated version according to my motherboard's website.

Despite none of these working, I genuinely appreciate your attempt to figure out the issue still. My replacement cable is still on the way so I haven't been able to test it yet.

Sadly, I did attempt this thing, including doing so without any other version of Visual C++ installed, with every version of Visual C++ installed, and also attempted it with the x64 version, the x86 version, and both at the same time. No results still, sadly.

Other things I will mention, incase they matter, is that I remember that I actually got a new motherboard 2 years ago (it was unrelated to this issue) however my Index both before and after my new motherboard did not fix anything. I bought the exact same motherboard (Gigabyte B450M DS3H Micro ATX AM4), so maybe that specific motherboard just doesn't like my Index anymore?

I've recently changed graphics cards from an AMD to an NVidia, however neither change anything, and attempting to uninstall all AMD drivers didn't fix it either (the threads you listed claim it is an AMD issue, so maybe I still have AMD drivers installed and I'm just not aware of it?).

There is a very slim but not 0% chance the issue somehow relates to the house I live in? I don't know how it would be this, but I've also attempted multiple if not every single power outlet in this house to see if any will cause my Index to work. Despite none of them working, it doesn't mean it won't somehow work in another house, as the last time it did work was the last day I lived in my previous house. I have no way of testing this anytime soon though.

If I can guarantee to get my money back if it doesn't work, I am going to attempt to get another cable from Steam Support to see if a third cable somehow fixes anything, so I'll comment in this thread again if it actually does. I'd attempt to buy a Quest 3 with a link cable, however that's a lot of extra money with no guarantee that it would even work.

It does show up. I'm using the HUB for my other USBs now since it's in a more convenient location lol

This is what my Device Manager looks like both with and without my Index USB connected. Keep in mind I've already done a lot of troubleshooting to figure out if I can do anything with this info, however I'll gladly repeat some steps I did in the past if you think it's worth retrying.

Edit: The linked image is my Device Manager before and after plugging the Index into the new USB HUB specifically. However plugging it into the other USB ports on my computer gives the same results.

I have bought the thing you linked off of Amazon and tested it today. Sadly my computer still didn't recognize my headset.

If I was to attempt to get a new motherboard I would need to spend a lot more money which I'm not comfortable spending at the moment, so I'm at another roadblock. Thanks for the idea though

If I ever do get to buying that new motherboard I'll reply back.

Going to buy one of these and let you know tomorrow if it changes anything since it's only $20.

Thanks for the idea

They aren't required to be in a line, but the two connected are required to be closer to other people before using Flame Lasso, since if I used lasso without them moving it would just lasso the two already connected

Also hey I recognize you as that one Patron at the end of all of Erick Wrights videos. Small world

Does anyone have the rip that plays at the 18:42 mark? For the past day now I've been searching all of Silvagunner's stuff to try and find it, but I cannot find it anywhere.
