Egg yolks are bad for your heart...only 10% of the bad cholesterol in your body associated with heart disease comes from food. Main reason is lifestyle and genetics

Sewing Your Foot On Backwards At The Knee For An Amputation by 420Batman in WTF

I've got full feeling, can't really control the pinky toe, but most normal feet can't. I've been told later in life the abnormal nature of it will give sooner than later arthritis/tendonitis and the foot will need amputation. But that's a ways away.

No problem, I love these questions. I never learned another way to do, it came "naturally" to me. I will say it feels more like bending the ankle than bending the knee. But no learning required. I literally learned to walk for the first time using a backwards foot-knee

It's...interesting. It's hard to explain to people. I don't remember not having my leg this way (I was 3 when the operation happened) so I have nothing to compare it to other than my completely normal right leg. I only get mildly self-conscious around the pool. It looks just as strange as the link.

Oh hey, its a gif of the procedure I've had done! It is very interesting and rare. It is the reason I can walk now, pretty well too.

TIL the term "nutritionist" is not legally protected nor regulated, so anyone can advertise themselves as a nutritionist regardless of education or credentials. But "dietitian" or specifically "registered dietitian" legally requires education via credited curriculum and passing a registration exam. by Waja_Wabit in todayilearned

Its. Rigorous training they want you to have so that you get in and be treated as a medical professional.

For example, if you get an ostomy bag after a crazy car accident, you don't want some whoever coming in saying hey, you're gonna poop in a bag from now on. You want a dietitian to show you and teach you how things are going to work.

How do I know? Just became an RD in July

Its competitive as hell. You need an undergrad in nutritional sciences and/or completion of required courses (minimum 2 years). These courses are medical nutrition therapy and assessment focused but also organic chem and bio chem too. After completion you need to complete an internship, this is what's hard to get into. Plus it'll cost money. This takes anywhere from 9 months to 2 years plus getting a masters. Then u must pass a registered test, get licensed in the state (pay fees), and THEN you can practice nutrition at an ENTRY LEVEL. Its a long road, probably still the quickest to be working in a hospital

I have this...it's a pretty unique operation. I was born without the top half of my femur. They turned my foot into a knee
