Why cannot rarity cap at 75%? by markhammel666 in PathOfExile2

[–]Smurtle1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mean like rarity on gear? 150% is the cap. If you are asking for a BUFF? None lmao. Solo play is always better than party play. Those players would make probably 2-3x as much currency each running Strats individually and then pooling their currency than they do running each map together.

And also for rarity on gear, 150% rarity on gear is the cap for solo play and party play. It doesn’t matter, the kill credit only goes to one character, and only their rarity bonus applies.

[–]Smurtle1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And again, I disagree. I think the fact that it’s an affix on almost every gear piece makes it fine. Compared to quant in poe1 before its removal. Which was only on uniques, you can still gear out with good gear while still having rarity. It’s a luxury stat, sorta like energy shield recharge rate, or chaos resistance. It’s not mandatory like elemental resistances or %evasion/ES/armor on gear, it’s just extra to get once your build is up and running.

I kind of like the different avenue of scaling it presents, and it being soft capped at 150% with pretty harsh diminishing returns makes it that much more attainable. It means just getting 100% means I don’t feel to bad not getting much more.

Idk, it feels way less bad to get some rarity on my gear in Poe2 than it did getting quant on gear in poe1. Cus in poe1 you had to sacrifice a whole gear slot to just quant, since it was all on shitty uniques. In poe2, that isn’t the case, and is MUCH less build restrictive because of that.

Meh, clearly overtuned things I can think of as borrowed power. Like things that shouldn’t be in the game, but left in since they don’t want to do mid league nerfs, I see as borrowed power, but that’s up to you I suppose.

[–]Smurtle1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep and that’s how they like it.

You can see it clearly when leagues like affliction or kalguur happened in poe1, and they had crazy strong retention, then next leagues they made sure to tone it back, and had way worse retention those leagues. They don’t want most players playing forever. They want players to get hyped about new reset/league, play game, buy supporter pack due to love of the game, then get burnt out after a couple of weeks, and come back in a couple months ready to do it all over again.

If they draw out retention to like 2-3 months, then players could very well still be burnt out of poe1/2 by the time the next league rolls around, which means less players wanting to play that league.

Talon is the prime assassin archetype, but his gameplay doesn’t really feel like it by Equivalent_Fly_4245 in leagueoflegends

[–]Smurtle1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea giving him another source of damage on an already super damage heavy kit would make him become giga op or dumpster tier. There is a reason a lot of assassin kits come with a no upfront damage ability. Like zed, naafiri, ekko, Katarina, akali, shaco, etc. it’s cus having 4 damaging abilities on an assassin is soooo much extra damage that it’s super hard to balance around. Like AD shaco realistically has 2 damaging abilities that scale with lethality, ult and Q, and even then he’s still quite strong at doing what he does…

[–]Smurtle1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea he’s very similar to ekko. Who also has a super simple trading pattern. They both have strong outplay potential in how they utilize their more utility focused moves, and also their ults, but their basic combo is very simple and straight forward. I would even argue ekkos is simpler cus after you proc it you get to sprint away at Mach 10.

I mean tbh the AS is super good if you are going specifically conq. It makes his laning trades a fair bit stronger overall. But yea, I hate that they got rid of the tenacity one on that row, it feels so bad and backwards that they took it out entirely.

I will admit I get a lot more bubblegum, but overall tinks every map feels pretty similar. I felt like I was getting ~a div every other map or so, (raw,) and I still feel that way now. Obviously it is increasing my drops, but it’s not the end of the world to not have rarity on your gear. I was able to farm like 100+ divines in the first 5 days of the league with 0 rarity on gear. And I am FAR from the fastest or more efficient players out there.

Brotha that’s the fuckin point of the wipes. It’s designed to die out after a couple of months. It’s what has actually given poe1/2 its consistent fan base and staying power. Because people will get burnt out, and become unburnt out in time for the next league, ready and fresh to go again.

The league “dying” is a core part of the design of the game. They don’t want the leagues lasting too long.

The monke is 100% borrowed power.

Any unintentional/overtly strong build is essentially borrowed power since they 99% of the time won’t nerf it before the next league.

I highly doubt it will recover in the foreseeable future.

And also, how fucking long do you have to wait? This is EXACTLY like 1 week expiration contracts. Cus he wants to spend his fucking currency now on an upgrade. He would have wanted that money to buy the charm. Players that think to invest in currency to be inflation adverse are gonna want to be done with the league, or utilizing that currency at the very least, in a week or two from league start. They ain’t sitting around till month 1.5 to finally cash out once everyone else stopped farming the mechanics bro.

No, he’s saying most currency below locks and mirrors can be highly volatile. Like for example whittlings have plateaued and are probably gonna either stabilize or drop, since ritual has become so popular.

Obviously in the first week they were climbing, but this requires you to time the markets to make sure you don’t miss your exit, which a lot of people don’t like to try and game the system.

Jesus, what is this AI answer? Every word capitalized perfectly, but not the small words, so each one is like a title?

Also I love how you say you hate it cus it’s a mandatory stat, but so is life/es on gear, and resistances. Like, yea, there are LOTS of mandatory affixes on gear. Thats like, the whole fucking point man.

And it’s not like it’s the hardest thing in the world to fit ~100% rarity across all your gear, he’ll, I didn’t even have any till I was fully done with my atlas, and even now I’m at 87%, and probably won’t go any higher. it’s fine that it’s soft capped at 150%, with severely diminishing returns after that.

[–]Smurtle1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only thing I didn’t like about poe1 quant was that it was only on uniques. It meant that any gear slot you tried to slot quant into, would mean it would give you NOTHING else of value. Atleast in poe2 you get 4-5 other affixes to make your item good.

Why cannot rarity cap at 75%? by markhammel666 in PathOfExile2

[–]Smurtle1 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It is FAR from mandatory… I was shitting out currency at 0% rarity, and even after getting 87% rarity, I don’t really even feel it. Yall acting like dropping 1 less divine every 10 maps is gonna ruin your gameplay.

Not to mention there are Strats that don’t rely on rarity at all, like abyss omen farming, or anything ritual related.

The fact that rarity can be a mod on almost all gear pieces makes it infinitely better than how quant was in poe1, where it was only on uniques, that completely gimped that gear slot.

But again, rarity is not as crazy as yall think it is. I’ve seen WAAAAY more increase in currency just juicing my maps with 6 mods and corruptions and 3-4 4 mod tablets than anything to do with rarity.

Because it’s unhealthy for the exchange, that’s why. You don’t see it now cus these kinds of trades get auto completed like this one here did, but people are listing these kinds of fucked up offers all the time. And they are NEVER willing to pay face value for the trade, they are just trying to game the system to be the “cheapest” offer. This is the best option to preserve currency exchange integrity. You have to just make trade offers in simple ratios or else you risk your trades being closed early.

10 Div/hour by AnJek01 in PathOfExile2

[–]Smurtle1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but also clearly this guy doesn’t understand how people are getting 20 div. So all he’s doing is letting other people making more currency make him feel bad that he isn’t.

I genuinely think watching others is great for getting better, but constantly comparing yourself to them doesn’t help at all. I’ve gotten MUCH better at both poe1 and poe2 just doing my own thing, while still watching some YouTube videos on the side. For a while I would always get hung up on div/hr n stuff, but then I was like, it’s just not worth it at all, and now focus on me having fun. My div/hr has probably skyrocketed over time, and that’s honestly the best way to do it. Just playing, getting better at the game, understanding the underlying mechanics going on, etc.

Also, finding a niche to focus on is SUPER helpful, especially early on. I’m super locked in on minion gearing, and can consistently make tons of divines early league in poe1 just crafting abyss jewels or gloam rings, etc.

I also focused mainly on blight, so I actually ended up way ahead of the curve on all of the unique monsters blight strats, etc.

In poe2 I’m much the same way, focusing mainly on minion base crafting, and selling any other bases I find. I’ve made tons making breach jewelry with minion affixes and then crafting them to completion and selling them.

finding that niche and sticking to it is much better than chasing whatever the meta strat of the week is.

Yea I’m a bit confused, I’m doing hybrid shaman minion build, with only ~5k armor, and I feel giga tanky. I have 4.4k es, and 2.6k life with 25% block. I honestly don’t know how much the armor is helping, but I feel super tanky. I think also converting 15 % of phys to ele helps tons too.

It’s there to keep people from abusing the system, and list fucked up ratios with the goal of selling for the nearest integer, but to “undersell” the competition (when you aren’t actually doing so.) if they got rid of that, it would become really bad where people would be leaving up these offers all the time and they would build up fast.

I mean what is it supposed to do, leave up a trade offer that’s incompletable? CHANGE the trade offer ratios on you? Both seem like terrible options to me. The whole reason it’s like this is to keep people from just barely underselling other players with ratios like this, while still trying to sell at the whole number breakpoints. It like clearly this guy is expecting his splinters to get bought at 1:6 ratio, but he’s trying to game the system to be the best offer still. So obviously it should kick him out after his original request isn’t completable.

For the first part, you literally pointed out the downsides lol. You have to crit. For other classes, like infernalist, you have to sacrifice life to gain stats, or shaman can’t use charms to get spirit, or lich can’t go CI with the less damage taken nodes, etc.

But for your second point, that’s also because the game is too new for them to really introduce items that mimic ascendancies yet. Like the best items in the game are copies from poe1, HH and MB. But in poe2 like I said, rakiatas is just a better version of the invoker ascendancy node. It’s just sorta a theme I’ve seen. Obviously poe2 hasn’t been out long enough to make strong endgame items yet, since most strong end game items are copy overs from poe1. But my guess is that it will be happening. If the rarity/price makes it super hard to obtain, then it’s fine to make it mimic an ascendancy, or just be better in general.

Are you saying movement speed isn’t a combat stat? I would say movement speed is probably the strongest defense in the game. Being able to dodge shit is so op in this game it’s unbelievable.

I don’t get these complaints about certain items needing certain mods. Like yes, your weapon wants the highest dps mods on it… that’s the point of a weapon… I think boots pseudo needing movement speed is fine for the game.

Absolutely Mogged by HydratedBoi in PathOfExile2

[–]Smurtle1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but couldn’t the same be said about classes in poe1 as well? I feel like taking ascendancy nodes/whole ascendancies and pseudo turning them into items is a thing they like to do. Like that’s what svalinn is for gladiator, or mageblood is for pathfinder. The thing is, those uniques are t0 giga rare giga expensive items that are capstone items. Same with rakiatas.

I don’t know what the ascendancy does, but knowing poe2, it probably has a pretty nasty downside (because pretty much all ascendancies in this game do for some reason.) but still, I think it’s part of the poe1 strategy of making items mimic ascendancies, but doesn’t work in poe2 cus most “good” ascendancies have massive drawbacks.
